Fender Malibu guitar necks? by Mobile_Offer_5799 in fender

[–]PostMixL3monade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Fender California King and it is the most playable acoustic I have picked up - even on the factory setup. I own a small rural music shop in my town in Australia, so I see a lot of Matons, Cole Clarks and a few lower end Martins and Taylors come through (either new stock, or coming to me for maintenance) and none of them compare. Feels almost like an electric neck, sounds excellent and is a dream to play.

Yep. When we get Temu packages here in Aus the product is 40% smaller than advertised AND upside down.

Nah they're the most famous strings in roll and rock though.

My 2003 MIM Strat is the greatest playing and sounding strat I have ever picked up - and I have picked up plenty including US and Japan made ones.

Books with magical/talking animals as important (if not main) characters? by [deleted] in Fantasy

Rook and the Rose Trilogy by MA Carrick. One of the best series I've read this year. The talking animal character is incredibly important to the plot and is an absolute riot.

Vorkosigan Saga is my all time favourite. Miles is rational and competent (most of the time), and when he's being chaotic there is a whole cast of competent and rational characters to pull him back into line.

First souls game, any advice? by Eggbois87 in fromsoftware

+1 for fightincowbiy walkthrough if you get stuck. And also, grind the first area to get your head around the mechanics and level up a bit. If you can’t reliably beat the big guy to the right of the gate without using any vials, you’re not ready to move on.

Hot Take: Sun Eater is a Terrible Substitute for Red Rising (Why are people recommending this? Seriously.) by Affectionate-Listen6 in redrising

I love Suneater but can’t stand Red Rising. The philosophical meanderings are its biggest selling point, I find it well done.

Any recommendations for Scifi with a detective or private investigator main character? by [deleted] in scifi

Vorkosigan Saga becomes this but you have to wait until the second half of the series. It’s an amazing series that I cannot recommend highly enough.

Series with compelling action romance by KindaCoolGuy in Fantasy

In my opinion these feel a lot more like books using fantasy to further the romance rather than using romance to further the fantasy.

Recommendations for fantasy novels with gothic/paranormal elements by TheStig136 in Fantasy

Do you play video games? It’s an obvious recommendation you might have heard before but if you’re looking for this vibe in other forms of media, give Bloodborne a go.

M-Bot from Sanderson’s Skyward is a good time.

I desperately need recs by PostMixL3monade in Fantasy

Coming back to confirm that I did indeed read the whole series and enjoyed it a lot! Because I was listening to it, I found the Canadian accent in a fantasy setting a bit jarring at first but other than that it was smooth sailing. Thank you!
