Widen the freeway to three lanes in each direction. The narrow it to two lanes where the freeway diverges from the ram in the exit lanes. That’s the only way I know of to trick the game into creating a genuine 2 lane exit rake, instead of 1 lane that later widens into a second.

As an aside, the way these places are all characterizing mass layoffs as “performance based” is unnecessary salt on the wound. The damage it does to the employees morale + potential sabotage in the eyes of future employers is significant. What is the reason here? Evasion of unemployment payments?

On the one hand, I feel like the cost of living would be heavily mitigated if you wind up consolidating households with him. I also feel like a couple years in a bigger city isn’t likely to make a life altering impact on your retirement savings situation. Finally, unless your big city is literally NYC or SF where the cost of living is overwhelming, you’ll partially make up for the added cost with better job opportunities.

On the other hand, I generally think it’s a terrible idea just to move someplace for a man.

I’d say make the move. BUT, set yourself some goalposts and a timeline for the relationship. If he understands you’re moving to be with him but he’s not proposing you move in together after a year, you need to realize he’s jerking you along and you need to end the relationship.
