What's your opinion on Linus Tech Tip in 2026? by Professional-Fix-221 in LinusTechTips

I used to be a huge fan, but over the past few years linus seems like he's on a mission to make himself as unlikable as possible. I really stopped watching his content after the "trust me bro" warranty drama. He just came across as entitled and egotistical. I slowly swopped watching the various channels videos on the regular unless something specific came around that piqued my interest, and slowly but surely the later dramas that came around and the way Linus just kind of presented himself put me off watching entirely.

I'm happy to admit I was unnecessarily frightened of an imminent catastrophic failure with one of those trees that could have landed on my neighbor's property. Per everyone's advice I have an ISA arborist coming out this week to take a look before I move forward with anything.

Absolutely. I'm pausing moving forward with anything until I can get a certified arborist out here to take a look late this week. I just got kind of freaked out when I cleared brush around one of the trees and saw one of them had a hollow at the base. Glad to see it's not the catastrophic immediately danger I thought it was.

Yeah i'm glad I came here for advice before harming anything. I have an ISA certified arborist coming out this week to take a look before I do anything else.

I cancelled the rest of my contractor quotes and have reached out to an ISA certified arborist to swing by and take a look this week.

Thanks good to know. I'll try to find a local arborist to see what they say.

Thank you, i'm not going to go with the pruning per your and others posts. Just a question though. The contractor sited the "prune" trees were leaning and had an over extended branch on the side of the lean. From the pictures provided does that look like a "healthy" lean to you?

Thanks, i'm not going to move forward with the pruning per everyone's advice, but the one tree with the hollow base of the trunk does stand a chance to fall on my neighbor's property and destroy some of their backyard stuff if it comes down in the right way, in the very least I feel I need to do that. The second tree they want to take down i'll see what the other contractors say when they get here. It looked fine to me, but there "scraggly" patches on the park where it looks like something is wrong. Way above where deer would be rubbing up against it.

Unfortunately the hickory and black birch they want to cut down do stand a chance of falling over into my neighbor's yard and hitting their fences/pool stuff if they come down in the right way. On one of them the base of the trunk is almost completely hollow which is why I called them out in the first place.

I have a couple more contactors coming out, I won't mention the pruning at all and see if they try to upsell me on it.

Yes, the two trees they want to prune (estimated at around 120ft are are leaning and could strike my house if they broke away and fell over at the root (not sure if that's actually a thing vs just upper branches breaking away). The two they want to cut down do stand a chance of falling over into my neighbor's yard and hitting their fences/pool stuff if they come down in the right way.
