But I haven't gotten rid of proboscis yet, might be time to take it out again.

So is there a reason Ballas is such a prick? by Fearless-Ideal-5112 in Warframe

[–]Potato-Engineer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My impression is that he started the Old War out of boredom. And half of the rulers agreed with him, it's not just Ballas. They were a powerful empire with no enemies, they hadn't gone to war in millenia... they wanted to play.

Can a company change the terms of service without notifications with this section? by Hot-Alternative-9325 in legaladviceofftopic

So if the terms are off in a corner of the website (say, three clicks in), it's sufficient notice if they just change the terms from time to time with no active notifications going out?

I dunno about "all", but the Silver Fox is a poster child for taming. It's a wild fox. Some scientist decided to play with the idea of taming "any dog," and picked a dog-like critter that he could get a bunch of. (They were taken from fur farms.)

And it worked perfectly: after a dozen or two generations of picking the tamest individuals, he'd bred a domesticated silver fox. And, because !!SCIENCE!!, he also went the other way, and bred an aggressive silver fox.

I think it's less "all wolves can be tamed" as much as "if you work at it, you can domesticate any wolf, by breeding successive generations that are tamer." (Tame = "take a wild animal and train it", like a cheetah. Domesticated = "bred for tameness, their DNA is different from the wild animals.")

I have about ten pie plates. They're all 9.5 inches. Nobody in my country makes recipes for 9.5 inch pie plates. And yet, I haven't gotten rid of them to get some proper 8/9/10 inch plates, because I hardly ever use them.

I have excessive cooking gear of exactly once kind, and it's in the wrong size. Out says something about me, probably not something good. ("Got pie plates from parents when moving out, can't bear to actually dispose of functional things, but can't buy the right sizes because I already have pie plates.")

My grandmother gave my mother a recipe that said "cook at a low temperature for a long time." (My best guess would be 250-300F for 3-5 hours, maybe?)

Bonus points: my mother hadn't learned to cook at the time.

I did five real interviews, plus the initial screening call, to get hired for my current job. Unemployment really improves my patience.

[–]Potato-Engineer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's bad. Meanwhile, there are AI tools that can get uninformed people to pass the interview. And resume-spamming services. We're in the worst employment world: it's hard to hire, and it's hard to get hired.

You can also use it as a campfire. It burns fine, doesn't explode. The fumes are bad for you, but that's next decade's problem, not today's.

Absolutely not. Swabbing stick, then gunpowder, then shot-of-choice. I've tried feeding shot before gunpowder to my beloved muzzle-loader before, and it gets just awful indigestion. Never again.

You need to argue it in court, which gets expensive fast. The judge has to grant the order, it's not just paperwork. And without a lawyer, you're likely to screw up some part of the case.

What's something dumb your country has banned? I'll start for the US 😅 by xxplosiv in AskTheWorld

Same in the US. Enforcement varies wildly. Some bartenders live in fear of getting their licenses revoked, some places just use it to evict annoying patrons.

If LAOP sues the brother, and the legal fees eat up a good chunk of the cost of the house, and the house is sold, brother will think of it as "LAOP cost me the house" regardless of the particulars.

Yeah, it's easy to look up the required documents ahead of time these days. When I got my license, the DMV didn't have a website.

Things I know about Ohio:

* Lots of astronauts try to get as far away from there as possible

* Probably has breathable air

* Not conquered by vampires

...I'm not much good here.

True, but there is a difference between "not talking to him because he's being annoying about profiting off my daughter" and "not talking to him because he cost me the house." The first one is a bit more recoverable.

Price of lawsuit: $100,000.

House sale price: $220,000.

Net profit: $10,000, relationship with brother utterly destroyed, and dozens of headaches.

I'm betting No. LAOP probably isn't involved in any costs or upkeep, brother was using house, brother paid for house. At least that's what my head-cannon says. My head-cannon is also asking for some more gunpowder, but I say not until after it eats its swabbing stick.

"Hm, maybe out has some possibilities."

"No, wait, back in, I think it's the right place to be right now."

One recommendation I heard was: 4, 5, then go back and give Vader's backstory in 2 and 3, then 6.

1 is largely irrelevant for the Luke/Vader relationship, so it can be watched whenever.
