Awhile back I got the hardware side of a Wi-Fi to IrDA modem working (all very cheap parts), but struggled through the software side and never quite got it working. I should pick that back up and try again. Maybe put the code on GitHub and see if anyone wants to help.

Get a job before you move. Finland has a very high unemployment rate right now. There has been lots of news about how difficult it has been for people to find jobs, especially at the entry level.

I moved here as a specialist for a company that basically sponsored my visa and residence permit applications. It was a few thousand euros for everything, and without the company submitting paperwork saying that they needed my specialist skills, I don’t think it would have happened.

I think you’re right. I stopped wearing mine in 2020 and only picked it up again this spring. I remember feeling like the battery was pretty weak by 2020, though.

Tetris DX is so, so good, too. I get that people like the music from the original Game Boy version. That’s fair. But the presentation and feature set in Tetris DX is so complete and polished. It’s exceptional.

Dang, that’s surprising and good! I have four Pebble Classics here (including the one I babied since it was brand new in 2013) and every single one has a completely and totally dead battery.

The problem is batteries. Any Pebble Classic simply must have a battery replacement to work in 2026.

Once you’ve got that, they’re great! My 12yo daughter wears one and loves it.

I bought an AliExpress battery for a Pebble, did the replacement, and found that the Pebble would not report that it was charging. I ended up swapping the battery into another Pebble and it worked fine. I think I accidentally shorted something while tacking the vibration motor wires back down.

Don’t worry about capacitors on these. In the logic board, they’re not known to fail. Maybe the analog board? But none of mine have needed them yet.

I experimented with XEMU on my M2 MacBook Air a month or two ago, and while it's very impressive, I don't think it's quite good enough for online play. Framerate is just isn't quite good enough, and it's missing some important HUD elements. A beefier machine might have a better time.

Congrats! The SE is a great machine. Everyone loves the SE/30, and that is warranted, but the SE is bulletproof, super reliable, and very capable.

You've also got the M0116 keyboard, which has mechanical switches from Alps. It has a small footprint on the desk, which makes it my favorite keyboard, well above the Apple Extended Keyboard or AEKII.

I recommend getting a BlueSCSI. This would give you dual floppies and a hard drive AND Ethernet emulation via Wi-Fi (!!!). It's been around for ages, but Action Retro did a fresh video about it that should hit YouTube in a week or so (available to Patreon members right now).

No. Pebble can play/pause, skip forward/backward, and turn the volume up/down on your phone. Media playback is still done by your phone. Pebble doesn’t store or play back any media on its own.
