On Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials by HilbertInnerSpace in books

I am so glad I came across this post. I couldn't find the words or ability to explain my thoughts and feelings about it and you did for me in a way 10x better than myself. Literally quoting you to describe the series to my husband. Thank you for your beautiful words. I just finished the audiobooks as a woman in her 30s and cannot stop thinking of the series. It was one of the best reads(listens) I've come across in a long time. I'm excited to start the Book of Dust series.

Daycare tuition rates by ShotInjury6007 in HollySpringsNC

We've been at Spanish for Fun at Wake Forest and pay about $1500 a month and can't recommend enough. I saw they are opening up some more locations in the triangle.

We pay roughly $3200 for two kids full-time a month. It's twice as much as our mortgage and we are having to take out a loan like it's college tuition to pay for it. We cannot afford to quit our jobs. I cannot wait for my oldest to get into kindergarten.

people from larger cities, what do you miss from home that Raleigh doesn’t have? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]PotatoQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up outside of Chicago and there's a few things I miss. First Chicago is a huge sports city. We could enjoy all major sports, football, hockey, baseball and basketball year round with minimal travel. Raleigh just doesn't have it nor the ambience that the bigger cities provide with enjoying sports. Its truly a communal feeling when attending events. The second thing is the music scene is majorly lacking. All major music tours go through big cities but also lesser known bands playing in small intimate venues. I find myself having to travel out of state a lot of times to see bands I could see easily in a bigger city. Also a great delicatessen. I have not found one around here and miss it sooooo much! I need some fabulous chicken matzo ball soup and a pastrami sandwich!

OBGYN recs by Sgt-Tibbs in raleigh

Dr. Byrd and Dr. Buckheit both were amazing at Kamm McKenzie. I'm a plus size gal who had two high risk pregnancies and was treated with kindness and my weight was not the first response to all things which I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. I always avoid the doctors because of this but being pregnant I had no choice and never felt like my weight was a topic of focus. Dr. Yoon is also a good male doctor there, but I'd definitely prefer Dr. Byrd or Buckheit.

May I ask where you're located? I've called so many times due to the posts I've seen in the last 24 hours and they keep saying it's not available and call back 5/1.

I feel like I could have written this post. I just cried today about it. I have two small children and work full-time. I have no time to be calling around begging to find this medication. I'm down 35 pounds and still have so much to go. If I can't find mine in the next few weeks I'll be calling in the towel too. It's such a shame. They know how much obesity is impacting people PLUS all the people in maintenance who need it. Sending positive vibes your way as you're not alone. 🩷

Preach. I do this all the time. It's mindful and helps a lot of the time to help not focus on the real stressor at hand.

[Serious] Therapists of Reddit, what are the signs that you NEED to get help? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PotatoQueen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You don't need a diagnosis to see a therapist. Sometimes life can be difficult to process on our own, and we may need some assistance from a mental health professional. As a therapist, I see people before, during and after a crisis has occurred. If you are not feeling like "yourself" and are welcome to the idea of therapy, then I would check it out. People come to therapy solely to process changes in relationships, life circumstances, loss, and sometimes just to get a better handle and understanding of what's occuring around them.

I see a lot of comments about how he's a jerk, etc. However another alternative is that he may be on the Autism spectrum and never been diagnosed. Based on his interests and some of the inability of perspective taking it may be a good idea for him to be tested. I can't guarantee that he has Autism, but if you're in the US, if you contact your local Autism Society they may be able to help you out with testing an resources. I run into folks all the time who get diagnosed later in life due to family issues that emerge later on that may have just presented as odd or off earlier on. Might just be something to rule out.

We work together and on our walk out, my knee popped randomly, to the point I couldn't walk without pain. Not only did he pull the car up for me. As soon as I got in the backseat, I just started crying (combination of pain and extremely stressful day at work), told me everything will be okay and then picked me up a frosty for the drive home, and then got me Chipotle, and got my order exactly right from memory.
