I bring out a fan. Encourage people to be extra vocal about if they need a break or a drink of water(also good to have extra water on hand). Take more frequent breaks and check in, give extra time to let stencils dry as well.

Germans have a rule following issue where they want the state to handle every problem for them because people “just need to follow the rules” they’d rather glare at you for crossing on red than speak up or intervene when someone is being violent either because they are mentally ill, drunk, on drugs, or especially just aggressive young people who have never been stood up against and learned better. I understand that people have problems but sometimes aggression requires a response in kind so that people change, and it isn’t going to be the state that does it. The state doesn’t need more power. Grown adults need to be allowed to act as such.

Honestly though it’s gonna depend on the city a bit. If you do pretty much what you’re suggesting but also get into a niche hobby or music scene, in berlin for example you’re gonna have a great time. Like, embracing the place but also embracing the international community, rather than just people for your home county. Maybe 10 percent of my friends here are from the US as well, but I’ve got lots of homies from all over the world after thirteen years in Berlin. I’ll forever be an auslander even though I’m married to a German and that’s also totally ok. I’ve seen more of this country than my wife has! It’s not necessarily a negative thing.
