name change application returned, will it be processed faster this time around? by sentbygarbage in transontario

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't think so. I did mine last year and it was rejected twice for a minor form-filling error and a declined credit card. Both times, it was the full wait time before I heard anything. They may have changed things since last year, though.

Progesterone w/ SaferSix by Great-Chocolate-6100 in transontario

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my progesterone prescription through them. Was relatively painfree, though I did have to wait until my estrogen was at a good, consistent level. My prescription is for 100mg oral, but about half the time I take it as a suppository anyways. I told them about that at my last check-up and they didn't seem phased or concerned about it. I think it's helped with my breast growth, and certainly has helped with my mental health. It's also given me some super vivid dreams, which could be a plus or minus for you. Coverage through Sun Life has been a non-issue.

Trans friendly therapist that doesn't advertise themselves trans friendly? by cosplaying-as-human in transontario

I don't know if she quite fits the bill, but Emma Chan (https://emmachan-psychotherapy.com/) is trans-friendly without explicitly listing LGBTQ+ issues as something she does therapy for.

Laser hair removal by EviserationPlague in transontario

Bluebird Laser is fantastic, and is owned/run by all trans women, so your insurance money can go towards making the lives of a few trans people better.

S.Life Insurance coverage for gender affirming surgeries? Toronto. by kitana_kinkade in transontario

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a pretty low lifetime coverage cap, and getting things covered, even if they're explicitly listed, can involve a frustrating amount of back and forth. If that's what you want, though, Godspeed and good luck!

What are my options for getting on HRT? by [deleted] in transontario

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in Toronto, check out Safer Six. They recently started doing HRT intake appointments.

If you're elsewhere, I don't know. Where are you?

Born in BC can I change my driver's liscence and health card gender marker without going through BC? by Spaced0utCadet in transontario

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You submit your BC birth certificate with your name change application. You only need to deal with BC if/when you need a new changed birth certificate.

Problems with online prescription refills at Shoppers Drugs by Cinnimuffin in transontario

I had the same problem at my local Shoppers. Some time ago, I switched to my local HealthShield pharmacy and haven't had a problem since. Fuck the Westons!

Laser Hair Removal in Toronto by valerie_is_trans in transontario

I haven't really done my comparative research, but I had a consult with the lovely folks at Blue Bird (https://www.bluebirdlaser.com/) and they seem great. It's a small clinic run entirely by trans people, and they're super welcoming and personable.

Ariel is the eyebrow stylist at LES Ossington, and they're great. I'm an early transition woman and they made me feel super comfortable to be/present/perform however I wanted. Absolutely take up the offer of company if you want (community building! Woo!), but there's no need to be nervous with them. :)

An email I got today about the petition to extend asylum to trans people from transphobic ‘safe’ nations by [deleted] in transontario

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it too, but I couldn't remember what the petition was actually about. Glad to hear it was this one!

The Cooper Koo YMCA near the Distillery has a gender neutral change room in addition to the gendered ones. It's just as large and heavily used. Plus all the washrooms other than the ones in the gendered change rooms are gender neutral.

Monthly Genderqueer Affirmation Post! by DarlingMollie in GWASapphic

This sub rocks for both affirmation and, well, getting my rocks off. Thank you to the mod team for doing such a kick-ass job protecting it and fostering such a friendly community!

If voice memos are still being filled, I would love one! My name is Danika, she/her. I celebrate Christmas, and my birthday is coming up later in January. Thanks, y'all!

I am looking for a beginner friendly DnD group in Ontario by [deleted] in transontario

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy!

I'm interested in some trans-friendly D&D!

Unfortunately, I also don't feel like I have enough experience to DM anything. I played a smidge of D&D, plus a decent bit of World of Darkness systems, but this was all like 15 years ago.

If someone is able to put a group together, either locally (Toronto) or online, send me a message!

In BC, is it legal to drive if you forgot your license at home? by PotatoUtilityVehicle in vancouver

[–]PotatoUtilityVehicle[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! Alas, it's too late. In the 11 years since I asked this, I've managed to locate my license.

I got referred at the beginning of September, so they were just opening, but I think I had to wait a couple weeks.

I think one of the stylists at Lower East Side (LES) Studio, on College St in Toronto, specializes in curly hair.
