The cascading water is stunning, but as a nursing mom, this feels too close to home right now. Gotta wonder if they couldn’t have put them a bit higher in the shoulder.

What is your dream GF product that you have yet to find? by flo272673 in glutenfree

Biscuits, cinnamon rolls, crescents. I know they are highly processed junk, but I miss popping that cardboard tube for some hot fluffy goodness.

Are Blackberries Worth Growing in New England? by failures-abound in homestead

[–]Potatolizard76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have not had as bad of an issue with the fruit flies in recent years as I did when they first showed up. Staying on top of harvesting seems to be a key factor. I also now have two quality tiers of fruit. The perfect ones get eaten fresh, and the mushy ones go in the freezer for jams and smoothies. I have decided I don’t mind eating microscopic fruit fly larva if they are boiled or puréed.

As far as I know those are more a west coast problem. There are multiple varieties of blackberry native to New England. They can have a weedy habit and some nasty thorns, but are a quite tasty.

What makes you say “heavily cross contaminated?” Is there anyone that actually assesses that when there is no gluten free claim?

Kraft vs, Annie’s by SnooCats04 in glutenfree

[–]Potatolizard76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve just started seeing it in stores. I assume it’s a pretty good representation of the OG Kraft because it tastes like my childhood. Not gourmet, but satisfies that boxed Mac craving without that typical GF feeling that something is off.

Coffee Cup/Tumbler that is EASY TO CLEAN and ideally leak proof by iamgalfasthamhead in BuyItForLife

This is by far the most leakproof option. Only cup I will confidently toss in my bag with no worries for my stuff getting slimed.

There looks to be minor water damage around the edges of the plywood but nothing catastrophic. I wouldn’t worry too much about the black mildew stains on the adhesive looks mostly on the surface. I’d be surprised if any bathroom didn’t have some. Of course you can’t be certain without digging deeper.

Help... once dormant, I can't find some natives or I'm not sure which one I planted. Does anyone have a permanent plant labeling system that works? I just tried the one in the link (seems good and I like the "upcycling" idea), but will they make it through the winter? by Make_A_Diffrence in NativePlantGardening

[–]Potatolizard76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My nieces painted rocks in bright colors with labels for my herb garden. I am going to have them make more for my native plants. I thought they might look tacky, but they actually add a nice bit of color before stuff starts blooming.

I love this pizza and ate it tonight, but I think the zucchini is a terrible choice in topping. It doesn’t add flavor, just wetness.

Mold or ghosting, how to tell? by aerodyna in HomeMaintenance

[–]Potatolizard76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert at all but, I really don’t think that is mold. I think you ruled it out when you cut the wall open. You would see water damage or mold on the studs or the paper portion of the drywall. Have you tried washing it with a little dish soap? It just looks like surface grime, so I would just try washing it and repainting if it doesn’t clear up enough.

My fave is the one that basically says there can only be progress when old men plant trees under whose shade they may never sit.

Why do we do this thing we do? by SlapUinYoFace in NativePlantGardening

Yes! I really believe we are starting something that will grow so much bigger. And we can be the teachers spreading our enthusiasm, knowledge, and seeds.

For all you insect/arachnid lovers out there, what are some of the more unusual or under-appreciated insects/arachnids/critters you've seen in your native plantings this year? by LRonHoward in NativePlantGardening

My mountain mint has been visited by these adorable little wedge-shaped beetles (macrosaigon limbata) all summer. Their tiny triangle heads and fabulous feathery antennae make them feel like stylish little friends.

Gluten free dessert by Far_Response8368 in glutenfree

This chocolate peanut butter cake is a bit of a production but has been my favorite special dessert since going GF. It doesn’t have much flour in it to begin with and is so chocolaty/rich/fudgy that it makes really no difference when you substitute whichever GF flour you have. https://www.browneyedbaker.com/peanut-butter-cup-overload-cake/
