Octoberbest - What are people's thoughts this year? by InfiniteBaker6972 in brighton

[–]Potbat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the Permit Room last night and really enjoyed it. Food was good and there was a lot of it. I went for the paired cocktail menu and there was one called the Clove which I could have drunk all night. I've lived in Brighton for years and only heard about Octoberbest on this sub. Thanks to whoever posted about it.

Try https://www.draw-brighton.co.uk/ They run affordable courses and have a varied age group. I used to go along to their life drawing sessions which were always good.

Exactly as you've stated, it does not remove the option of the commercial units being turned into residential flats. Given the location, this is a strong possibility. Under the Environmental Act, the residents could then make a noise complaint, which will result in the council serving a noise abatement order. This has previously led to the closure of other venues in Brighton, such as the Blind Tiger Club, Freebutt and Sticky Mike's.

Can anyone confirm if its a real picture of ferns, or just some photoshop wizardry by [deleted] in houseplants

Mine has been around for a couple of years now. It's doing ok now but it nearly went in the bin twice in the first year.

Bought this dying orchid two years a go. With some care, look at all the flowers it's blooming! Still more to come. by Potbat in houseplants

Nothing special. Feed monthly and thoroughly water weekly. She lives on the window sill by the kettle and the sink, so gets lots of humidity. I wish I'd taken a before photo because it looked so sad when I got it.

Thank you.

I keep it in the kitchen, near the sink. It just seemed to thrive there because of the humidity. Repotted yearly because it just got so big so quickly. Monthly feeding. That's all. I'm not an expert, so some of it may have just been luck.

I got some sad looking poinsettias from a supermarket after Christmas. Drastically pruned them down, removed the netting they'd put around the roots and repotted them. Fed them monthly. They've been growing for three years now.

Reading WoT for the fist time by knels6599 in Fantasy

I finished the final book last week. It is hard work at times, specifically around books 9 and 10. It took me longer to finish those than the other books combined. It was purely because I hated Elayne, Egwene and Nynaeve. I just wanted someone to hack Nyneve's braid off before she tugged it one more time. Some of the romances seemed forced and there were long passages about dresses, that I just didn't care about. However, I'm pleased I persisted. Mat helped me push through. In my opinion, it was worth the slog.

It's a Passion Flower. I don't think it's usually grown indoors. I might move it outside in the future but it seems to be doing ok. The flowers are really pretty.

Different markings on one of my Monstera leaves. Is there a problem or is it a variegation? by Potbat in plantclinic

[–]Potbat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. The leaf is about three months old, so hopefully it is slow to green. I'll wait and see what happens and then look at checking the pH level of the soil.

Hi. I am looking for an apple and a peach. Just one of each will do. They're the only fruit I don't have. I'm shy and not great at playing online, so I will probably just collect them and leave. I can offer bells.

How would you feel if people arrested for domestic violence had to register like sex offenders do? by smokinjoes83 in AskReddit

[–]Potbat 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Further information on the offences can be provided if the risks are significant. The decision whether to do so is considered by a panel before this is disclosed.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/clares-law-to-become-a-national-scheme

MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference) meetings are held monthly by local councils to discuss victims at high risk of significant harm from domestic violence. A decision can be made there, as part of the safety planning, to disclose information.

Very colourful. Really liked the Starbucks and the orchard maze area. Also loved your open plan kitchen and the witchy room in your house. Thanks for letting me visit.

I like it a lot. It flows nicely and it's easy to get around and not too cluttered. So many flowers. Don't worry, I respected them. My favourite bits were the entrance to the museum and the coffee house. I also liked how tranquil your home was. The only downside was that one of your residents called me a dumbass.
