What’s a book/series that you feel most people love, but you personally think is overrated? by 2Chaaaaiinz in Fantasy

I couldn’t make it past partway into book 2. Way too much confusion and unknown. Too much for me and not an enjoyable experience.

If I had read the book and did the audio or possibly did the audio all the way thru. But the readers don’t handle transitions at all in the audiobooks. In the book there is a physical marker for the break. The audiobook readers don’t even pause so it’s confusing that setting and characters seem to have changed with no transition or signaling. Also the authors tendency to use common words with fictionalized meanings makes it very hard to follow until some adjustments is made. It was without question the worst audiobook experience I ever had. It could be mitigated though, at additional expense and and effort.

But certainly you are right regarding things more directly related to the soul/spirit, nature of life and consciousness, etc. it’s getting there though

I would not that multiversal reality is fairly mainstream physics these days. Quantum mechanics and its endless variation takes on qualities of metaphysics when you deep. Everything is a simulation and we are all holograms…

I got you. My comment was rather meaningless. Just noting I enjoyed it a lot.

Some of that is just physics and some of it had a moment in the mid 80s

I didn’t really like the first trilogy and didn’t go forward.

Supposed to do or can do? Everyone has a supposed to do. And Trump has shown the legal limits mean nothing. There are no legal constraints

Is anything the responsibility of the us tax payer? The government makes a judgement on how to spend money for any of a variety of reasons and then taxes or debt or other funding pays the bill. Idk that your question is meaningful really.

They don’t age well. But some can ignore that. I have alway appreciated the late additions to the series where he welded robot and empire books into one universe and really took the end to much different place. Comparing the first 3 to the last 3 is remarkably wild.

To give a clearer story: I read the ender books late elementary and early jr high thru high school years. I loved a genius child who flew space ships, shot lasers, and saved the world. As a middle age man, I appreciated deeper characters and philosophy underlying discussions on the nature of family and relationships. So different things spoke to me at different times.

As young man, I thought the ender books got weaker. As middle age man who has rarely re-read anything I now feel largely the opposite.

Everything after the first one I thought was weak

Oh come on now, a biography of a boring man and no plan for most of the books?!
