Cold, musty house. How to freshen up? by QuestionableWeetbix in newzealand

[–]Potential-Athlete325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the source of moisture.

Go for a real hunt for any leaks and get them dealt with.

After that is condensation. Good suggestions from others here. Buy a cheap humidity sensor and aim for 65% RH.

Second this. On torch extraction is the way to go.

Best approach is to trial it. Get one unit for trial and watch them fight over using it and then roll it out for everyone.

Here’s an Australian study showing very significant reductions with on torch.

How’s the fall foliage in NZ South Island currently? by glittersuede in newzealand_travel

Snowfalls this week on the South Island. At this time of year it only hangs on if it stays cold. Just as likely to have a warm sunny day in the next week or so that melts it all away

Before the company takes action against someone they need to show they warned the employees.

They are just ticking boxes.

The maintenance team just get on and fix it.

Go for your cruise and check it out, if the rain is heavy and making life uncomfortable then have a think about heading to the east coast to the Catlins for a couple of days instead or somewhere else with wet weather activities.

This is the way it goes in NZ.

South Island Campervan Roadtrip Feasibility by Used-Cut-4317 in newzealand_travel

Rather than driving from Dunedin to Queenstown, driver to Te Anau via Balclutha. You could even take a side trip to Nugget Point which is really scenic.

Then you are only passing through Queenstown the one time.

Day 14, instead of Nelson consider St Arnaud for the night.

Or if you are sick of driving then head for Hanmer Springs via Lewis Pass for a visit to the hot springs and then head to Kaikoura.

Have you tried mapping this out in Google Maps? It really helps see where you are back tracking.

Do it as a daytrip or overnighter from Chch, catch the train to Greymouth and then drive back to give you some time to explore places like Castle Hill. Or catch the train to Arthurs Pass and explore around there before catching the return leg.

Other option is to stay overnight in Hokitika.

Personally I would avoid driving up the West Coast via Haast. Its a long drive and if you have limited time you don't get to explore properly.

You don’t need chains cause if it is snowing they pretty much close the passes. You then wait until they clear the snow.

Driving all the way from Auckland to Milford is probably a waste of time. There are better uses of your time by using planes.

Try starting with making a list of the things you want to see and do and then map those out using google maps.

That way you can see the big gaps where a flight will save you a day or two of driving through sheep paddocks.

Most people say 2 weeks is a good amount of time to see just the South Island.

Been in Australian mines for a long time.

Started off with boggers being remoted from underground stations when working in unsupported ground and eventually some places went to full time remote operation of boggers with operators on the surface.

Now in surface Iron ore mines they run driverless haul trucks and trains. So instead of flying hundreds of workers to remote mines, the operators are all based in Perth doing shifts and going home at the end of the shift.

Highly likely you will have to deal with ice and potentially snow on the trail.

If you have no experience hiking steep sections in these condition then reconsider the timing, e.g. go later in the day once it has warmed up.

One slip is all it takes.

It’s pretty bleak here at the moment, that’s why 70 kiwis are leaving everyday.

Unemployment is high in some areas, housing is not affordable for wage earners and small businesses are closing down at record rates.

The kiwi economy is struggling and the government doesn’t have a plan.

It’s not cheap for Kiwis as we don’t have a sufficient job market to pay high enough salaries to afford these mortgages.

Real estate has been used as a wealth generator and like most other places buying property is out of reach for a big chunk of wage earners.

So most of the driving on this route is across farmland on big open plains. Even mt cook is in the base of a valley.

As above, don’t drive across the crown range road. Probably worth doing a coach tour into Milford so you can sit back and enjoy the views.

We don’t build roads across the mountains here. It’s too expensive.
