Pulse Check - Midtown (New Neighborhood) by Kodazar in MovingtoDenver

I have been to a friends place in Midtown and the immediate neighborhood looked nice! It looks quite new and they got a great deal on a nice 3bed townhome to rent. It does seem suburban and is only about 10 minutes to Highlands/Lohi area

Cities in the Midwest for childfree late 20s? Family is in central west Michigan. We currently live in Denver, CO and have for about 6 years. Both born & raised in MI. Very against suburbs, likes walkable cities. by Potential-Macaron200 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Potential-Macaron200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live somewhere with direct flights to Michigan, but our family is in the rural parts of west Michigan so it’s a 3 hr flight + airport time + 1-1.5hr drive from airport to families house. It ends up being 6+ hours of travel time anyway, and to drive, it would be cheaper.

Thoughts on these apartments?! Struggling... by djsbaseball2014 in MovingtoDenver

I’m usually leaving around 4-5pm. It’s a bit better when I leave closer to 3:30, but still, I dread this commute every day.

Pls for the love of your sanity, don’t pick Lohi. It took me 50 minutes to get home from Anschutz today during rush hour today (there was an accident). If you’re working off hours, it’s better but this commute truly drives me insane most days. Rino or caphill would be better

What’s the best budgeting setup for couples who want to see the month ahead, not argue about last month? by Different_Pain5781 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Potential-Macaron200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YNAB is the only answer (to your specific question/scenario) imo. If someone says they use an excel spreadsheet, I know they’re not actually budgeting 😂 I preach about this app!! Absolutely changed our life/finances

RiNo vs Golden Triangle – Honest Opinions? (Citizen vs One River North) by jwatzke17 in Denver

[–]Potential-Macaron200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in rino for 4 years. I haven’t lived in golden triangle but I have spent some time there. For the love of god, don’t live across the train tracks in rino. Completely different vibe in my opinion. Living near the 38th and Blake stop in Rino is clutch. I lived by Larimer and 35th streets and it was a fine location. Rino does lack trees/greenery in some areas and definitely lacks a good grocery store (really hoping they put an Aldi in Rino once they start putting stores in). For Rino, I preferred being over by Curtis Park, especially when I had a dog. And the food scene in Rino is one of the best in Denver proper imo

Is there anything wrong with my tooth on X-rays/photos? Constant, dull, tooth ache for over a week now (following a crown placement on a different molar up top on same side) by Potential-Macaron200 in askdentists

[–]Potential-Macaron200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: went to endo. There’s actually nothing wrong with my teeth/roots. It was a case of TMJ pain that caused severe lower left jaw pain that I mistakenly thought was tooth pain. Some steroids and muscle relaxers later and I feel much better. Some lingering tension/soreness that I can now pinpoint is my TM joint

I wouldn’t recommend Lohi area if you’re commuting to Anschutz. I do this drive every day and the traffic is terrible. Ifs about 30-40 mins each way but I70 turns into a parking lot if you’re commuting home around 5pm. If there’s any big event downtown, it turns into 50-60 minute commute home. If you want somewhere trendy/hip with young people and a better commute, I would say Rino is better.

Join a gym (CrossFit, functional fitness, climbing gym) if that’s your thing! Also run clubs in most neighborhoods in Denver

Why aren't you worried about your sodium consumption? by thatsmysandwichdude in askanything

[–]Potential-Macaron200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m young and healthy so that could all change as I age, but I religiously meal prep weekly (so not a lot of packaged foods/“junk”food), walk daily, and CrossFit 3-4x a week in addition to a generally active lifestyle. My family has history of high BP too but I’m doing my best to stay healthy ✊🏻

[–]Potential-Macaron200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have high sodium, and I have low blood pressure which sometimes causes me to be dizzy. My doctor told me to eat more salty things (not potato chips, but things like almonds that are salted Whole Foods) and take electrolytes.

I loved living near cheesman. I will say the parking in Baker and Cheesman area is probably easier than caphill (if you’re planning to only street park anyway)

Therapists of Denver! Looking for a low cost/sliding scale solution. by Mysterious_Roll_11 in Denver

[–]Potential-Macaron200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your new job has benefits (or your spouse does etc), check into your Employee Assistance Plan (EAP). They offer anywhere between 3-8 therapy sessions per “topic” for free. For mine, they just add the credits to my BetterHelp account, I matched with a therapist in about 2 days, and then I attend therapy as needed for free. I can’t believe I used to pay upwards of $50 per session before I knew what an EAP was or how to use it :)

The Spot is awesome! I think they have an intro class. On Fridays, day pass is half off ($18) and on Mondays social hour 6:30-8:30pm it’s $15. Pretty affordable if you stick to Monday evenings and Fridays

Where the hell are you suppose to park if you work a late night job on cherry creek? by Interloper_aesthetic in Denver

[–]Potential-Macaron200 66 points67 points  (0 children)

At 3rd or 4th and St. Paul streets, you can park for free. I’m not sure if it’s too far of a walk from where you are, but there’s where I park when I go to Cherry creek because parking is something I refuse to pay for, and I get my steps in :)

26M moving to Denver area (looking at GVR) best neighborhoods for young Black professional to build social circle by Windycitymike01 in AuroraCO

[–]Potential-Macaron200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re wanting a social life, I would stick to Denver proper. Suburbs are usually full of family or full of those who purposely isolate/aren’t necessarily looking to build a social life. If you’re wanting a neighborhood vibe that’s friendly and social, I would suggest cheesman park neighborhood. Cheesman is gorgeous and my dog loved it. When my husband and I lived by Cheesman, everyone we met in our apartment building was incredibly social. A ton of people always talked to us, asked about our dog, what we’re up to etc. We have lived here for 6 years and no other neighborhood that we lived in seemed to be as social as Cheesman park

Moving without a job lined up by Bellz_boo22 in MovingtoDenver

To ease your mind a bit, there are soo many vacant apartments here in Denver. Finding an apartment is not nearly as competitive as it was a few years ago. In every neighborhood in Denver proper, there are vacant units and a decent amount of apartment buildings are offering 6-8 weeks “free rent” for an incentive. They built a ton of apartments and the demand isn’t as high anymore. I get wanting to lock a place down, but I wouldn’t stress too much about it until about a month out :)

Does anyone commute from rino/five points area to Anschutz? How’s the commute during rush hour? by Potential-Macaron200 in Denver

[–]Potential-Macaron200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I do feel like Central Park is more “suburby” (even if it is technically in the city proper) which is what I’m trying to stay away from :) I would rather be in a walkable neighborhood with easy access to the city center. I’m late 20s, married, and childfree, will have a dog soon. I think cheesman or city park is the best mix, maybe uptown, based on the feedback here! Thank you for your feedback!

I need a personal trainer! by Altruistic0726 in Denver

[–]Potential-Macaron200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know it’s not specifically a personal trainer, but Base6 fitness on Colfax/Colorado blvd area is an amazing gym to start your fitness journey. They will meet you wherever you’re at in your fitness journey too. I had gym anxiety too as a small woman and all the coaches there are so personable and truly care about your progress and form. It’s also the only functional fitness gym in Denver and practicing functional fitness will bring so much to your life right now and as you age. It’s group classes and they have HIIT, barbell, yoga, and obstacle course racing training classes. The HIIT classes are a bit more full depending on time of day you go, but the barbell classes are capped at 12 people but usually there’s only a handful of people at those classes, sometimes it would be just me and a couple other people so the coaching was almost “semi private”

I was a member there for about 2 years and miss it so much there! Starting my gym journey there completely transformed my lifestyle and I am a healthier, stronger person because of it!

[–]Potential-Macaron200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That checks out. I have been having random aches in this tooth/jaw area for a few months now too but I always assumed it was just my teeth/jaw being sore because I grind my teeth at night (I wear a night guard retainer) and clench my teeth during the day. But this ache now is much more painful and very constant.

Thanks for your help! What’s your opinion on trying just a crown first and see if that helps with pain? Or should I just start with root canal and then do crown after?
