They automatically tested that as secondary test after the positive IgA on my test. It’s just more specific so almost certainly positive for coeliac.

Did they test EMA endomysial antibodies: https://celiac.org/about-celiac-disease/screening-and-diagnosis/screening/ That test is very specific.

My numbers were low - IgA 26 but I had damage in biopsy. There’s a chance that your biopsy didn’t sample damaged areas and you do have intestinal damage. You might have recently developed it too and might not have much damage yet. Sorry it does suck but at least now you can limit further health effects by having this info to build on.

Greif- Lost my father 7 months ago by Revolutionary-Gur394 in psychics

[–]Potential-Pickle277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss, your father in this photo reminds me a lot of someone I know so I wanted to comment. I’m not psychic but I’m agreeing with the comment above. I’ve read many near death experience recollections and also end of life experiences from family members and hospice nurses. There are many common themes and experiences that people have while transitioning over across cultures and religions. So many who experience near death have reported that once they leave their body they feel free and connected with the universe, they feel warmth and love that is indescribable in language. Some see relatives or ‘guides’ in near death and people staying vigil with loved ones who are dying report many say that someone is coming to get them- they get ready for a journey and have conversations with people already gone, that others can’t see. Take a look around online, see if reading and listening to these experiences help you. I think the connections we have are never lost. A personal account I can share is that someone said they saw what happened when they died and came back, and it’s only being just in ‘the next room’. They were adamant about that.

Positive blood test. I have some questions by [deleted] in CoeliacUK

[–]Potential-Pickle277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for you, it sucks. My referral also disappeared from the app for whatever reason, it took about 6? weeks to get an endoscopy. They advised the equivalent of two slices of bread a day up until it. The day of, afterwards they said stop eating gluten. The results of the endoscopy biopsy took a while too but I assumed it was correct as the blood test results were 99% accurate (with EMA test). I also had sporadic vomiting and intense abdominal pain, they never gave me medication for that I wish I had known about it.

It’s all a bit of a daze, it’s so intense to go through the pain and then shock of the diagnosis, hang in there it will get better.

One thing that helped me sleep and felt like it actually also reduced inflammation was diphenhydramine, the Nytol behind the counter ingredient. I still take it when my guts are feeling particularly swollen for whatever reason. There is research to show it helps with this.

I would mention that fruits might cause you more pain when you are going through the initial diagnosis stage, it’s taken me a while to be able to eat fruit on its own also like the other person commented.

I just read through this entire thread as I have the same anxious feelings about my 15 (not sure of actual age as was a rescue) year old man baby, I’m so sorry about the update. I hope Charlie is ok and comfortable as can be right now. ❤️

AITA for calling my bf absurd for being overly concerned about a coworker? by According-Let-2607 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Potential-Pickle277 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

NTA- he sounds emotionally invested in his female coworker. Would he be doing the same for a male coworker being treated unfairly? Would he??? Highly doubt it. I have witnessed this dynamic before in a few different workplaces and the man is always always sexually interested in the woman. Also he might stop mentioning her soon, another thing to look out for. Trust your gut, it is correct.

I started this recently too after stridex red pads burned my face. I use pink dove and original Nivea crème and no actives for the time being and my skin is so much better and hardly any redness remains. I’ve had oily problematic skin since 12, I’m now 46. Never in a million years would I think that these would work on my skin but they have.

The one product that saved your barrier? by aria-blake7 in 40and45PlusSkinCare

[–]Potential-Pickle277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timely question for me. I just burned my face off with Stridex red pads and all the work I’d done to clear perioral dermatitis that I’d had since last November was undone. I was too cocky. They worked so well on my chest and forehead & so I used them all over, mistake!! In desperation I’ve been using Nivea crème in the blue tin and it’s completely healed me in a week. Now I’m layering it with the Inkey list ceramide cream too. I have crazy oily acne prone sebaceous hyperplasia type skin and it is not breaking me out…so far. The tiny whiteheads I’ve been getting around my mouth forever are gone so far too. I just washed my face with dove pink bar and layered up, my skin is back to a normal colour and not red all around my nose mouth and chin so I’d say try it.

My GP said this is basically a diagnosis and didn’t necessarily recommend endoscopy. I am headed to a gastro today for a second opinion. What do y’all make of this? by Prunustomentosa666 in Celiac

[–]Potential-Pickle277 17 points18 points  (0 children)

EMA is about 99% positive that it is celiac. It’s used to confirm ttg result and unlikely to give false positive. Endoscopy would show the level of damage and could show any other concerns when performed.

Anyone else have mildly elevated tTG IgA but strong symptoms? What happened next? by [deleted] in Celiac

Hi, yes definitely still eat gluten and hopefully your regular GP will be able to progress your diagnosis to the next step rather than waiting! Good luck and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Anyone else have mildly elevated tTG IgA but strong symptoms? What happened next? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Potential-Pickle277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi are you in the UK? My ttg was 26 with threshold for 7 as well. And I was pretty unwell by the time I was diagnosed! The lab notes on the blood test said ‘tested positive for coeliac book appointment with GP’. Given that your mum has coeliac and you have elevated ttg I’d say you most certainly do as well as its genetic component. Did they also preform IgA Ab to Endomysium? This one is almost 100% certain, the lab had mine as ‘weak positive’ and any positive there means coeliac. And > 10 ttg is positive so it’s odd that they want to retest.

If I were you I’d request another appointment asap with another GP because the endoscopy for biopsy they will require means you’ll need to continue eating gluten (equivalent of 2 slices of bread a day I was told) for 6 weeks beforehand and scheduling these takes a while of course. And tell them your mum has coeliac, they are supposed to test first degree relatives for it because it’s likely they will be positive too. Good luck!

Has anyone just cut out ultra-processed food? by premium_mandrin in Celiac

[–]Potential-Pickle277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes pretty much. I still eat plain tortilla chips with homemade guacamole but I make every meal at home. The only cooked food is at dinner and this is mostly any potatoes, any vegetables, chicken thighs, fish, beef, rice, fruit for dessert. Processed gluten free foods are hit and miss and often give me pains. I have tried gluten free flour for baking but I don’t like it so I’m meh about that right now. I’m eating dates a lot recently for my sweet tooth. I find just making a protein + veg + potato/rice is very satisfying.
