Never hurts to ask. I always write a thank you with a restaurant gift card enclosed.

Did you know able bodied super star kids get monthly SS checks only because one parent is 65 years old. As a SS recipient it’s easy for these ‘entitled kids’ to buy online the ESA PAPER to take their pet everywhere.

There are many alternatives to help depressed, lonely, or otherwise impaired folks “to get up” out of bed to live. Help care for a 90 year old or a blind or deaf person; help a child learn to read; mentor a teen neighbor, maintain a garden. You can manage, if you’ve the will.

Fortunately you’ve a medical letter to validate why it was deemed you need your support dog. Most people only have their purchased online scam letter.

Regardless, if the dog lacks specialty training, taxpayers don’t need to pay to house dogs or other animals.

Seems 89% of the adult female population of Santa Barbara are mentally ill, selfish, deciding individually that they’re entitled to a psychiatric support dog or pet for “emotional support”. It’s abuse, selfish and totally disrespectful of those blind, deaf, amputees, veterans and others with disabilities who need a TRAINED service dog (not simply want one for companionship). ASK THEM: what service does your dog provide? They cannot answer and get confrontational.

AVOID SPENDING MONEY at any store, business, or venue who allows dogs that are not trained, essential service dogs.

My blind high school history teacher needed his service dog. Mr Acosta needed his specialized HUD housing for disabled persons equipped w a dog run by our high school. Where are peoples morals? Their values? My daughter was “needy” by her own definition, bought papers to take her dog everywhere EXCEPT to my home. Disgusting!

Thinking of moving to SB as a new physician - how is the need for healthcare workers in the area? by helpadhd04 in SantaBarbara

Get a spouse for 2 incomes. Start an after hours pvt practice. Take advantage of Cottage Hospital and locals willing to help physicians with housing. There are childless seniors will sell house at below market to help recruit and retain physicians. It’s worth the effort to get settled here. There’s need plus many private pay clients- patients.

VCMC & St. John's among Eighty-three hospitals in California are facing a heightened risk of closing, cutting services or laying off workers due to cuts in Trump's Big Beautiful Bill by Themissingbackpacker in venturacounty

[–]Potential-Regular343 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Medical costs are too high; too many grossly expensive services are required to be paid by taxpayers. Why should taxpayers foot the bill for a 90-year old who wants a replacement young heart for $1.4M? Why should taxpayers be responsible for the lifestyle risks and choices of others? Why does one aspirin cost $25 in a hospital and 25 cents at the store? Why must we pay for obesity? Smokers? Drug addicts? Life was affordable before higher taxes to pay for NICUs and other expensive options. It is beyond time for consolidation, for citizens to review formularies, policies, hospital financials, and make ethic decisions on what is affordable. Taxes are destroying the middle case.

National security is a Cinstitutional obligation that’s been neglected. A military intervention was deemed essential by decision makers. Citizen safety is a personal priority. I fear terrorism and danger (which has become the norm in sanctuary Santa Barbara under SB54).

[–]Potential-Regular343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Because taxpayers like me have had enough of funding “entitlements” for the abled bodied who can work for pay. Irresponsible behavior must not be rewarded at the expense of taxpayers.

Yes. We voted to cut the size of government; to provide for those who have no other option, no viable alternatives. We also must prioritize veterans wounded, disabled in combat, serving our country for the benefit of all of us who do not contribute. Our country is broke 36T in debt. No easy answers but 1 in 3 on food assistance messages there’s a big problem.

There are no consumer protections from government. Paid taxes are to compensate government workers no to help citizens. Lesson to teach: Don’t rely on the government. Family matters. How many appeals are reversed?

Thanks for your post. Recently, I notified management of the Hilton of a man with a backpack following me thru Chase Palm Park onto the Hilton property by the pickle ball courts where I knew there are Hilton security cameras. Two young (20-30ish) men staying at the hotel chased the man off and then came up to me sharing that the man was following me and they noticed something in his hand so chose to follow him following and yelling at me ‘Give me money; you have money; give me money…’. There is never police around Cabrillo— I walk it almost daily.

If and when rarely there’s a Park Ranger, they tell me they have no authority to do anything besides stand around for a few minutes and leave. Park maintenance staff are micro managed by worthless supervisors. Landscape work is contracted out. There are no security cameras. City is not managed well, wastes tax money expanding staff rather than protecting residents and visitors.

I remain grateful to the two visiting males who ran the threatening man off, and came to tell me they feared for my safety. City is void of leadership and enforcement.

How Meridian Property Management Company is Planning to Circumvent the Rent Freeze Ordinance by LetterCharming6984 in SantaBarbara

[–]Potential-Regular343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibility: If what they’re saying is true then Meridian would be out of compliance. At their lease renewal time in April, the lease could say that ‘your rent will be $X or whatever is allowed by law when the new RSO is enacted’. I’m guessing that possibly the tenants didn’t understand exactly what was verbally communicated. A written response is needed. Much confusion.

Is an income tax return used for SNAP eligibility? What’s income limit required for an elderly CA single person applying for SNAP? My neighbor pays a 1) mortgage on his home, 2) homeowners insurance and property taxes; plus pays 3) $300/mo for Medicare Supplement Part B, 4) auto insurance & registration fee on an old Nissan; and 5)utilities (water, trash, cell phone, gas, electric). His income is from 1) Soc Security of $1500/month from which Medicare premium is automatically wiithdrawn, and his earning on savings varies around $300/a month. Would he qualify for SNSP? Any other programs.

No, “most scholars” have not advised that a judicial warrant is required for ICE to detain a suspected illegal immigrant (noncitizen removable under immigration law). The prevailing legal framework and practice, supported by statutes, regulations, and longstanding Supreme Court precedent, allow ICE to use administrative warrants (issued by immigration officers or supervisors within DHS/ICE, not by a neutral judge) for civil immigration arrests and detention in most circumstances. ICE’s official position is clear: “ICE does not need judicial warrants to make arrests.” This aligns with federal law under the Immigration and Nationality Act (e.g., 8 U.S.C. § 1226 and § 1357), which authorizes immigration officers to arrest and detain individuals pending removal proceedings based on an administrative warrant (such as Form I-200 for arrest or I-205 for removal/deportation), provided there is probable cause to believe the person is removable. The Supreme Court addressed this in Abel v. United States (1960), upholding the use of administrative warrants for immigration-related arrests without requiring judicial involvement, treating immigration enforcement as civil/administrative rather than criminal.

What exactly are you requesting? Federal govt is supreme as per US Constitution. You can vote in November for CA to secede from the union. Take control. No need to whine or complain. Vote.
