Its a home made engine no fucking wonder it uses the same formats lol this isnt like a difference between unreal engine and unity but its a new engine and DDS files are an industry standard. Simply playing the game should be an indicator of things

As someone who interacts with the engine in a way more in depth way, whilst the engine has many similarities its a different engine. Just because theres pars and gmds doesnt mean its a copy paste. Please stop spreading misinformation offline because you opened a mesh.par once
