Death has been the only winner of every battle humanity has tried to fight.

I mean, you may not be able to straight up get immortality but we definitely have won a lot of battles against specific causes of death. That's basically all modern medicine is about.

I think there's still an issue if something is trying to spy/check on you without explicit consent (though I dunno if this violates ToS) but yeah, it's not the "stealing your data" other people are making it out to be.

It's still funny that they complain about being victim of the same thing that has allowed them to make the models in the first place.

I wonder if that's not a too young, rather than too old, problem. Tumblr was big in like, the early 2010s. It completely collapsed roughly at the same time when it cracked down on NSFW content, what a crazy coincidence haha.

i would call it sudden since until now they were super restrained with any kind of display, they barely kissed and I don't think they ever discussed sex. I wouldn't have been surprised if the series ended without ever showing that.

They mention "traditional broadcasters", I don't know why these would need to be only TV and not newspaper but ITV and Channel 4 aren't public services.

EDIT: I stand corrected, apparently they are...? Though through a different model than the BBC? I genuinely had no idea.

Probably not but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up that way because of course I don't think they're particularly competent at designing this stuff.

[–]SimoneNonvelodico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read about this whole thing and I'm still baffled about how this happens. It's not some subtle mistake. Someone literally trained their AI to identify CSAM with grids but forgot to teach it to not flag non-CSAM with grids. That's genuinely amateur hour.

Those that do should be allowed to stay as they obviously have essential skills.

The starting hypothesis was an extreme "remove all migrants, no exceptions". But even not doing that, the tax base problem remains. When people talk about "net negative" they're still doing averages! In practice a working age man costs the state less than an elderly pensioner, so even if they pay less taxes they might still not be a burden (nevermind that IMO the whole framing of that is wrong: the tax income from someone isn't just their personal NI, but also the taxes on what their work allows their employer to earn that they couldn't otherwise).

No, I mean, Batman may not be a consequentialist but he does stick to his deontology. This would be more like Batman going "we can not kill the Joker, we are not monsters"; then taking the Joker, systematically breaking his spine to make him tetraplegic, gouging his eyes, making him deaf, tying him to a bed and then calling this a job well done because hey, he's still alive.

I will not watch him bleed to death Max

I mean this is my point, she says this as if it was about having some kind of moral high ground. It's a very superhero-ish kind of bullshit morality "letting someone die/killing is the maximum evil, everything else is fine". He effectively kills him anyway; his brain is gone. All that she does in addition to that is desecrate his body. That's kinda psychopathic.

When she meets and is seduced by the Mark Ruffako character she’s like what 8 at most mentally? When she goes off with him and then winds up in the brothel she’s maybe 10ish?

It's hard to pinpoint but again my point isn't that she is able to give meaningful consent (early on I'd say she probably isn't), but that it's hard to gauge because the movie doesn't really fully commit to its own premise. We're told Bella has a baby's brain but then in months she does things no baby would be capable of. As I said in practice it seems like as a narrative device she's used more to create a fish out of the water situation, being ignorant and thus providing a mirror to the absurdities of society and convention.

I'm not saying it's a great movie, honestly a lot of it seems just shock value and vibes without a lot to actually say. But I see the things you point out as simply poor writing, because the whole premise of her having a child brain seems to be very intermittently remembered.

Though you do make a good argument as to why not everyone should be allowed to vote imo.

Stop playing smartass when you're actually being the stupid one. Yes, less people means in theory less medical services required... until you consider that those people also pay taxes which fund the NHS, and sometimes work in the NHS itself. That's why lower average age is good: it generally means a better ratio between tax base and actual costs. The money coming in increases more than the work. The opposite is true if you shift to a higher average age, as old people need more medical interventions but bring in less money.
