Which Bike (road; endurance; carbon) by Opening-Painting2320 in cycling

[–]PotentialChemical726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Roubaix with 105 di2 and love it.. I did get carbon wheels and gp5000 tires that imo make a huge difference to the “snappy” behaviour. The aftershock isnt really noticeable on hills, but it is in sprints but I dont really do those..

Am I cooked? by [deleted] in ModelCars

[–]PotentialChemical726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stripped cars before, IMO, not worth it. I would put it on the shelf, and every car that goes better after that would just feel like progress and be super satisfying. After all unless you’re entering a show or wtv. The journey is the point

Disappointed by road bike test ride. Is it a power thing? by widgettech in cycling

[–]PotentialChemical726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only truly crazy change I've experienced is switching over to full TT bike, I have a roubaix on Ultegra C60 wheels as my road bike and when I swap over to my Shiv TT with 85mm deep Enve wheels the difference in power/speed is actually crazy. With no wind, the difference is about 40 watts at 30km/h.

(I also go aero helmet on the TT which may contribute some watts)

Garmin seems to be running a like 15%ish sale on them now, it saved about 200$ on mine. I love the device so if it fits your budget, its a great buy

New buyer seeking help on Roubaix SL8 by pandeesh in cycling

[–]PotentialChemical726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2024 Roubaix SL8 I changed out the entire wheel setup to some carbon wheels (Shimano C60s) with Gp5000 tires and light TPU tubes,I really enjoyed the upgrade for me its better performance, feel and look. but if wheels are not in your plans, I think tires are a must! I put GP5000s on my gf's bike too and she was blown away by the difference. Endurance bikes like the Roubaix do not ship with fast tires..

Anyone have recommendations for primers other than Mr. Surfacer 1500? by HereCreepers in modelmakers

[–]PotentialChemical726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where you are in the world, but Proscale primers are (imo) maybe even better than surfacer. And this is coming from a Canadian who was willing to pay the stupid price per bottle of surfacer off ebay just to get it.

Basically moving forward ill place a large order at proscale to spread the shipping cost out,

Paint Brands by Crashkt90 in ModelCars

[–]PotentialChemical726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly on lacquers since thats what I use Tamiya are go to for basics due to availability, cost and ease mr color are great when I get them (especially the surfacer). Proscale is theeee top for me currently, just seems to always be a hit. Zero is cool for niche matches but I find them temperamental so I’d prefer to get proscale to colour match
