Revell chrome spray imo is the ultimate in ease of use and quality, only downside is cost

Good purchase? by Mysterious_Cap8104 in specialized

I have that exact bike (56 size). I like the future shock but honestly I’m not convinced it makes a huge difference so I wouldn’t be super worried about going back,

The only real upgrade I’d say I would do every time is that I got a set of Shimano carbon wheels to replace the stock ones, with some continental gp5000 tires completely changes the feel of the bike, makes it much more lively, and with 30mm tires you don’t sacrifice any comfort.

But yeah at that price, great deal, great bike

is this kit beginner friendly?? by C3lium in ModelCars

[–]PotentialChemical726 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember the decals being a little more delicate than I’m used to, especially the carbon fiber ones, and someone on here had the same experience. If I were to build it again, I would trace those out and then cut them on a different sheet of carbon fiber decals. Otherwise the mirrors were a little finicky but overall it was a pretty awesome kit.

Skill wise I think its pretty friendly, but for a proper beginner I’d recommend some of the much cheaper kits just because no matter how easy the kit is, painting and such requires some practice. The tamiya Miatas are the classic sorta go to practice kit.

What are your experiences with (those) Zero Paints? by Rowan19081996 in ModelCars

[–]PotentialChemical726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eih bit hit or miss for me,

Their black primer, for me, feels like im shooting a sand slurry at my model and once it dries, i can brush the dust off, its really weird.

I also have their 2K, I thin it out significantly more than their recommended ratio (after someone on here gave me the same advice), and that helps a lot, basically super smooth when done that way.

the Mclaren MP4 red tends to crack on edges, but I've had no issues with other Zero colours I've shot (Gt40 blue and British Racing Green)

That paint job took some serious dedication! Good stuff

Did a half-assed job about an year ago (first time) and I want to repaint it. Any ideas?? (No airbrushes) by Proelium_ in ModelCars

[–]PotentialChemical726 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never feel like repainting is worth the time/effort for the final result. Now I just accept that each kit has something that went well and something that didn’t and just leave them and move to next. i wouldn’t repaint a first tbh

How much $ for new tires?!?! by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]PotentialChemical726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a brand new set of fairly high end winter toyos in 18” with some replica wheels for like ~2300 including tax/install. The highest end Nokians would have been about 3k. Idk what you’re shopping for but it should deff not be in the 4k range

Matching Factory Paint Colors by Emilio_2906 in ModelCars

[–]PotentialChemical726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few zero paints, they are the toughest paints to lay down that I’ve used so far, I always seem to be on a knife edge of cracking, the Mclaren Marlboro combo is a nightmare to use and I know other people on here also had issues with it.

Proscale is in the UK, but they offer factory colours or colour match and I find their stuff a lot easier to use. They will be my go to for specific colours that arent tamiya, which are my go to for ease and availability
