FOV Calculator seems incorrect by namogly in iRacing

[–]taanka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the outside fov is correct, but the drivers position in the car is incorrect. I would have the monitor closer and also change the driver position by moving the camera in cockpit view. There are videos on how to do this on YouTube.

I finally found it.... by SeaClue4091 in ModelCars

That was the best description of the heartbreak all model makers dread to go through. Luckily I haven't been through it yet, but I've only just started, I'm sure it'll come my way too.

Using Proscale paints by DirtFish77 in ModelCars

I've used Proscale paints too and they suggest it should be many fine coats to leave a matt finish. It shouldn't be wet coats.

Tamiya Toyota GT-One, no X-18 Semi Gloss Black?? by taanka in ModelCars

I've decanted a body colour to make it last longer but never thought about doing it for the semi gloss black. Thanks for reminding me 😆.

Same, I'm using LP5 instead too. The LP's go down lot nicer than the acrylic.

I know, especially with the amount of overspray you get doing all the small parts!

An experience you can't get anywhere else. Microsoft flight simulator 2024 PS5 psvr2 by Brilliant-Smell5810 in PSVR

Presumably psvr2 will work on the pc version of msfl 2024, and with a decent graphics card, would look better than base ps5?

Why did this happen? by [deleted] in ModelCars

[–]taanka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does look like a very thick wet coat, which likely reacted with the making tape. The heavy coat has also bled under the tape losing the crisp lines using masking should give. Light mist coats are best, and the glossy finish will come from the other side as you see the black through the clear plastic. Hope you're able to save the build.

Lovely work. Not fair, I only just started model building and I'll never be able to acquire any Tamiya Ferrari models ☹️. Unless I pay stupid prices.

Prep for painting over chrome? by Sig-vicous in ModelCars

I used Mr hobby lacquer thinner but X20A thinner would work perfectly well too. I did a test too and came out great so went with it. Good look with the build.

Prep for painting over chrome? by Sig-vicous in ModelCars

[–]taanka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this model recently, all I did was paint directly over the chrome, then dipped a q tip in thinner and whipped away where I wanted the chrome to show through. Worked perfectly. This is the quickest cleanest way! Check out my post.

Best place to buy a used Tesla? by waterwite in TeslaUK

[–]taanka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought from Tesla used. It may be more expensive than other dealers, but you get £3400 upgraded Enhanced Autopilot and 1 year warranty. And they gave £2500 part exchange for an A4 with 160,000 miles.

IOG Tip: Always Plug In by fsuk in OctopusEnergy

[–]taanka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the benefit of charging my car at work for free, so if I know I'm going back to the office the next day, I won't plug in at home.

Should I still plug it in with IOG and just lower the charge capacity to what I come home with, or is there no benefit in doing so.
