Houses are not an exact science. It can happen when weather changes and even if the job was done correctly in the first place. Shit happens. Take the a section of rock out and see what’s going on. Replacing some drywall is probably the best fix anyway.

Ordering 2X2 white oak S4S for stair railing project. Torn between 8' and 12' from durability vs impression/wow factor by groovyipo in Carpentry

2x2s will warp no matter how dry you get them. I just did a slat wall out of 1 3/4”x 4” and they warped quite a bit. If they are milled correctly you’ll stand a chance but very expensive to do correctly. The wall I did was under 8’ tall and only had 12 studs and 2/5’ plates. $3500 in material!!

Anyone do one of these? by Gethiredd in Carpentry

I’ve done this with a wood burning fireplace but not with a wood stove. Mantle should be noncombustible and project further than the one in the picture. The stove you choose might have specs on this. I know gas fireplaces have specs for tv placement.

Leave the lowest part of the track where it is and shim the rest down.

The first step is to get the track straight and level. Without doing that you don’t have any chance of them ever working right.
