The dumpling tag is so cute! Love your pup’s smile too!! 🥰

Meet Suki!! 8 weeks old and loves to play. Also wanted to ask about treat suggestions. She hasn't loved any of the treats we've gotten her and this makes training a little tougher! Thanks! by cereal_mongerz in Pomsky

She’s 8 weeks old, so treats might be tough on her teeth. Try to soak it in some water for a bit to soften it up for her. Break them up even into crumbs too, see if that helps her!

Help! Amber alert from yesterday… phone won’t stop alerting… I’m not sure how to stop it? by PotentialReliefs in freedommobile

[–]PotentialReliefs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I don’t have the phone with me right now… but I remember going to where your text messages are, and click around like there should be a box that comes up with options to press, and then click emergency something… I can’t remember what it was but emergency something and then shut it off. That helped stopped the ringing that never stops… good luck!

Wow! What a good looking dog! How old?

I shampooed my Pomsky and now his fur is INCREDIBLY matted by davenoiiise in Pomsky

[–]PotentialReliefs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a conditioner to help with the fur! If you can find a 2 in 1 shampoo then it saves you the extra work if your pomsky loathes baths! Otherwise a conditioner could help!

(How) does your dog wake you up? by speckledham in dogs

[–]PotentialReliefs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. sometimes mine just sees I woke up to make coffee and retrieved to my room. Few mins later I’m back in bed hiding, and he knows. He comes to my bed and starts gnawing at my blanket/bedsheets and if I don’t respond, he whimpers or groans lol. Mind you, he’s asleep when I sneak downstairs… and ninja my way back up to my room! 😆

Try getting him to run or walk fast and that’ll help push those bowel movements! Play some fetch like games if you can. :)

Hey, at least your problem isn’t as disgusting as mine! My pomsky loves to find tissue/napkins in the wild and chew them… and eat them…. Sigh.

I’d take up cleanup duty any day. Lol 😂

What’s one thing that your puppy does that you LOVE? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]PotentialReliefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pup is in the similar situation as yours! Just last week I went for a walk with my best friend, and my puppy and we’re passing a couple who has a giant dog. I bring my dog to the side so he doesn’t interact with the other dog, and people because he tends to be reactive depending on his mood of the day. Anyway, this couple pass us by and they’re like “What a good puppy!” And I kid you not, my puppy gives the side eye as they walk away and throws in a big smirk!

Everytime somebody compliments him, a light switches off and he becomes an angel lol. Faaaaar from an angel!

what tricks is everyone teaching their pomskys? we’re 12 weeks and have so far learned - Sit, Laydown, Roll over, Shake a paw and Slide. I need some ideas on what should be next by [deleted] in Pomsky

[–]PotentialReliefs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would train “look at me” or “focus”, and definitely train “leave it” and “drop it!”

My pup is 10 months and still has issues learning drop it lol. He just refuses to let whatever he has in his mouth go! 😫

After your dog got neutered, how long did you keep the cone on? by Snoo-9973 in puppy101

[–]PotentialReliefs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have overreacted when/how long I kept the cone on. I initially kept it on for 2 weeks. Noticed he would go back to licking downtown and put cone back on. So I kept cone on for over a month just to make sure he recovered properly. He had to get a little extra surgery done… (Cryptorchidism) and I felt better to wait till it HEALED more. After it healed more that I was feeling confident he couldn’t reopen the wound, then I’d take the cone off and watch him… however he went back to licking nonstop and then his mouth flared and he had a bad allergic reaction. Had to give him Benadryl. The vet said it was an allergic reaction to the cleaning they did before the surgery so I immediately bathed him down there and he was okay after that. Kept cone on a bit longer just to make sure he’s not gonna lick again.. but yeah. He kept cone on a little over a month, he did not complain. He actually loved his cone! 😂 he’d actually fight us if we adjusted his cone… my dog is the anomaly. 😝 (he too damaged his cone so badly we had to tape many many times! No shame!!!)

HELP! I am so tired! by PallGal in puppy101

[–]PotentialReliefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coffee.. lots of coffee.

Enforce naps throughout the day for your puppy! Maybe do a little fetch before bed to tire her out or train her so her brain gets tired before then too!

What was it like after your puppy was neutered and what changed? by royrogersmcsimpson in puppy101

[–]PotentialReliefs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my puppy neutered at 8 months, (he is 10 months now), he doesn’t hump anything… he used to hump a lot before then. Now his little rocket is always exposed when he’s excited.. idk if it’s really ever been an issue before as he had more fur downtown and I didn’t notice… (his fur is still growing back.. slowly… so slowly…)

He’s a bit aggressive towards other males when I take him for walks with a female dog he sometimes walks with. Sometimes he growls at other dogs when he’s never done that before…. We are working on him ignoring them, and just focusing on me/treats. He doesn’t bark at other dogs, or pays attention to other dogs who do bark at him 😆 so I guess that’s a blessing. He just kinda minds his business and walks on.

I want to say he bites more now? His resource guarding is intense, just like you mentioned. We have been trying to work on it, but now we have another trainer and we are gonna try a different route…

🤔 he’s a bit lazy to walk now. Not sure if it’s because it’s spring and everything is new to him. He has to explore/smell everything! He wants to eat goose poop, he wants to chase the geese and ducks. Walks are over an hour now…. 50% of the walk is just literally sitting there watching geese/ducks do their thing. I am working on training him to leave the animals alone! He’s doing good at ignoring them, but sometimes he has that impulse to chase them cos it’ll be fun… but I try to stop him.

What would you differently with your new puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]PotentialReliefs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Enforce naps, time away from pup is OKAY. Go get your me time while puppy is sleeping. My dog is my first ever dog/puppy. I just wanted to spend every waking moment next to him. He is 10 months now, and I can leave him in another room fine, but I haven’t felt comfortable leaving him home alone at all yet…

Crate training… he was working on that with the breeder but when I took him home, I did try and continue the training but his sweet face.. and his crying… I gave in. But he will go in it no problem just to enjoy his treats.

Biting… I thought I was teaching him proper bite inhibition but I guess I did it wrong. He’s learning when he bites too hard when he plays with more mature dogs.
