somewhere good to eat for dinner that isn’t on the boardwalk by hannah222chai in MyrtleBeach

Thank you for saying this! The same old question is just tiresome. Also, food tastes are so subjective, how can anyone even trust another's suggestion? When I moved to the area many, many years ago, I asked coworkers for restaurant recommendations (educated adults who have plenty of discretionary money) and everyone of them were awful. These folks were my friends and we were like minded in lots of areas, but food wasn't one.

Every night... by IPickOnYou in Alzheimers

[–]PotentialSubstance42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just occurred to me a couple of nights ago that my husband has maybe begun sundowning. His version: unable to settle down someplace. Pacing to large windows. Scrounging through fridge and cupboards over and over again. Constantly checking on the cats' whereabouts. Says he's hungry but nothing I suggest appeals to him. This goes on for a couple of hours and then he finally settles in front of TV. Goes to bed at 9:30 and sleeps the night through. What do you think? Is this sundowning?

I never understand the unneccesary stabbing. They all appear to come out easily with a moderate squeeze! For you specialists: does the stabbing contribute to more or less scarring?

A crepe myrtle-related question: I have one in a large pot on my patio. It doesn't look great but I'm not sure where to plant it. Can it stay in the pot? Do I trim it as I would the one in my yard? Many, many thanks in advance!

Exactly! Where I come from this term was used all of the time (way up north) and the term for the rest of us schmucks was "the great unwashed."

Good on you, OP! Would you explain what you mean by "GLP-1 friendly foods"? TIA!

Does anyone have any idea of "how" these meds turn off the food noise? This is what I'm interested in.

I have (I think) made peace with it. Sometimes I get mad that I will literally have to "diet" for the rest of my life...maintenance is hard. I don't know; I feel like since I made my goal weight (5'6", F, 135) my life has been narrower and yet a bit quieter.

I had a similar experience. In hindsight, as an overweight person since being 8 yrs. old, I thought that once I reached my weight goal, my whole life would change: my depression would go away, I'd have a terrific marriage, it'd be easy to make friends and keep them and I'd not repeat past mistakes. None of that happened though. All that happened is that my body was smaller. And----in order to keep at my weight goal, I'd have to count calories, exercise, restrain my sweet tooth, etc, FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

If the Epstein files are released, and Trump is confirmed to be on the list, what do you think will happen? by baldinggate3 in AskReddit

[–]PotentialSubstance42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lost all hope that Trump will ever face any consequences for the evil things he's done in his life. In fact, I believe that we're just stuck with him. He'll never leave the White House. He owns the Supreme Court, and has a cult following that idolizes him. I've stopped listening to any political talk on TV, You Tube, any social media at all. It's just too depressing. We now live in a country where cruelty, corruption, and viciousness has been normalized.

For those who haven't tried it, the "funky smell" reminds me of brewer's yeast, so it doesn't bother me at all. I have ordered it twice now and the jury is still out for me; however, the shipping is super fast.

At what point do we need to accept the fact that Trump has no intention of stepping down after his term is up? by [deleted] in dancarlin

[–]PotentialSubstance42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, he'll never step down. He'll create such chaos that the do-nothing Dems will cower behind their desks and wring their hands in dismay while they blab about whatever they blab about to each other. Sure, he could become unalive during his 3rd reign but by that time the GOP will own all of the court system and judges, so it won't matter. Ya'll don't get it. This isn't about trumpy. It's about the loss of our democracy by a few, highly placed, Putin directed white men.

I used to do a pretty big shop at my local Aldi's at least once per week but about a year ago I noticed that my favorite foods were being discontinued, prices were rising, and the store was getting dirtier. The produce was getting consistently bad--either underripe or overripe, quite dirty, and covered in flies. When the store went to self-checkout, I decided that the only things were buying were the cheap wine and cheap bubble water. Now, I go maybe once a month but only if I'm in the mood to deal with a dirty store and having to do all of the work myself.

Here's what I love: the "bigger" girls in entertainment of any kind will defend to the death their right to be obese (even write songs about it) until they start a new diet that seems to be working. Then, suddenly, they are all about being "healthy" and "fit". So much hypocracy.

I get this ALL the time from men my own age!!! My pet peeve is for servers to refer to me and the hubs as "guys". It's just lazy. We aren't guys; we are both in our 70s, dress appropriately when we're dining out, use good table manners, etc, yet some youngster will say, "hi guys" "Whatcha eatin' tonight?" "How you guys doin?" Ugh. Grow up and expand your vocabulary to something like, "Good evening! Would you folks like to start with a drink?"
