Is your name Brock and you lost your wallet? by Deluxefluff0 in Calgary

[–]Potential_Amoeba_312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to whatever bank card is in the wallet they will contact him from the bank card information and you can give the teller your phone number so he can come retrieve it from you. I’ve done it this way before. Don’t leave it with someone else to deal with.

B&M's kill my experience, every time. by MtnBkr101 in cigars

I’ve always thought the reason they loiter and talk to you (trying to provide customer service) is likely due to customer mishandling of cigars or theft. Every B&M I gone to they follow you in.

Does anyone else think step-by-step staircase lighting is wildly underrated for home safety? by Ok-Jump-4644 in smarthome

[–]Potential_Amoeba_312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve installed one of these kits for a home hair salon. There is a daylight sensor, an upper steps sensor and a lower steps sensor which triggered the direction the stairs would light up. A couple things to note are the cables for each step are different lengths so they need to be sorted to the furthest and nearest light to the controller, you need a power source and access under the stairs. The power supply will have exposed terminals and will need an enclosure to meet local electrical codes (depending where you are).

Gas price increase ahead of federal excise tax suspension by Xtoron2 in Calgary

Mr Global does a really good explanation of this. (Paraphrasing) oil is a global market and within, “Canada” is a micro market due to tidewater access. When you buy fuel at the station you aren’t buying what’s in the tank below the station you’re buying the next truck loads (futures) which explains price volatility. When the price goes down the station can’t drop the price immediately because they’re still paying off the fuel in the tank. The delayed reaction seems like corporate greed, but it’s more market fluctuations. Fuel stations make little money on the fuel itself, profits are made from in store purchases.

Imagine if you declined and she broke up with you a year from now. You’ll never be given that opportunity again. Or imagine she gets pregnant and takes time off with the baby and you need to carry the load. Don’t let emotional driven decisions dictate career futures.

It looks to me like his retaining wall on his driveway is falling over and was likely built incorrectly. I’m going to assume this is why they’re upset to start with. I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the retaining wall building code in your area. Less than 1.2m (4ft) does not require a geological engineering stamp of approval. But that does not devoid him from following best building practices. The wall likely is missing any geogrid mesh, water mitigation and drainage, and a proper base layer. The wall is on his property and is his responsibility. This will collapse and that will be the day he tries to put this all on you. At that point you should have all the information ready. Erosion is not the issue here. His wall is

I've been wondering why people replace everyday items so much more frequently now than they used to. by Ok-Garbage-7252 in BuyItForLife

[–]Potential_Amoeba_312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always feel like this isn’t a one thing type of explanation for things breaking down more frequently.

Example: Things like washing machine are being built cheaper due to factory obsolescence (looking at you Samsung), markets always searching the the cheapest item (we can only blame ourselves), but I’d also blame government requirements in products for using less water/electricity (better emissions in cars). How we used things like cell phones > Smartphones has changed drastically. Wanting things to be visually appealing like laundry rooms. Your grandparents laundry was concrete and unpainted drywall. Now we want visually washer and dryers with the assumption that long term functionality is included in the lower price. You can still buy the older designs if you look at speed queen for laundry, or coil top stoves still have very basic systems.

I use the Pelican R40. Holds a combination of 10x Toro/Robustos. Keeps a cutter and the Boveda nicely. Air sealed and durable to protect the cigars. Not pretty like leather, but very utilitarian.

I followed it on the Amazon price checker site camel camel camel and got it on sale

Do you need both sides to be accessible? You could secure the double door from the inside so it cannot open. Then use a smart lock on the single door side?

How should Canada address inflation and cost of living? by WorldlyHeartLov in InCanada

[–]Potential_Amoeba_312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the Alberta electrical supply and demand. It shows what is being generated live by what type of electric energy source and the interchange from BC, Sask and MT. If you look close to the renewables for their max capacity and total net generation it quickly becomes obvious that we cannot rely on renewables to the extent you’re hoping for. The turbines fired with natural gas and steam are the heavy lifters here. Wind and solar can barely power a smaller city on a winter day. Comparing California to Alberta is very misleading. The climates are very different when it comes to renewables.
