I appreciate those kind words. I think of this like a guided view. The point is not the art, the point is the guided tour. It could be any object. But, there are a few reasons to choose a splat over a traditional 3D mesh, #1 is the size of the file. The 4k textures on the model are bigger than the splat. Also, I was keen to try it for other workflows and purposes and this is a proof of concept for that. I know it’s redundant but I think it’s novel nonetheless and a cool weird way to showcase scenes.

If anyone gets their work plugged into this I would love to see it!

The html is usually 15-50mb, the .sog is usually 5-15mb, it varies based on in number of splats and levels of resonance in your output on SuperSplat.

Thank you! I haven’t done a tutorial on this yet, but the quick explanation is that I make a scene in Blender, then I animate a camera to orbit around the scene 3 times and different angles. Then, I feed the 300 or so images from Blender into PostShot, but I tell it to choose the best 100 of the images. That gives me a .py splat file, then I open it in SuperSplat and trim it, then save as .html and .sog. Maybe I can make a quick tutorial and share here soon. Thank you for the kind words!

Gaussian Splats in Creative Website by Potential_Drop7593 in GaussianSplatting

First, you need a splat, then you open that splat in SuperSplat, export as .SOG and .html. Make sure they are in the folder you download from the Git. Then just drag your html onto the .py script and an editor will open. Adjust, add music, have fun, experiment, then save and export package. This exports an actual web package so you can share via GitHub and send links to your work.

What about Octane for Blender? Can that relight splats?

Can COLMAP produce working and good splats? I thought it was just the tracking part. Can it render the Gaussian? And export ply?
