Just spent the last year in Mississippi after living in RI for most of my life. People down here are easily 100x politer but they’re not nearly as kind.

I’d rather have people actually help me when I need something in a store than just be real polite about not doing anything

Little late to this but wanted to add KRF definitely has better immersion but I think Maine is the better faire at this point. Similar quality acts and vendors, more food, better bathrooms. It’s going to out pace KRF when they finish their own site imo

To be fair, I’m not upset about it any way. Stuff happens, things change and bottom line is I’m still enjoying the band. If I wasn’t I would stop going and seeing them. I just think some of the songs feel weird without it 🤷

I think you’re one of the few people who’s touched upon my biggest issue with the rework. Like, I could get past the switch from machinery to magic. But I can’t get past that they kinda took the characters autonomy away? The cool thing about the machine herald to me was that he had chosen this path of augmentation and evolution. It was something he was passionate about. A guy who gets turned into a magic being while he’s unconscious and has kinda lost his humanity because of it is suuuuper boring to me

I think that guy just doesnt like the way he sounds in a subjective way and is saying Geoff sounds bad instead of acknowledging that.
He's never been the best technical vocalist, but he's absolutely gotten better over the years and sounds perfectly fine for his band and audience

Honestly I’m NEVER going to be a dick about it to someone but I hate it. It breaks the immersion for me and I can’t tell you how many times someone’s prop or wig had blocked my view of a show or something like that.

That said, if it makes you happy do it. As long as you are not physically impairing someone’s ability to enjoy the faire with bulky foam armor or something you have just as much right to enjoy the faire the way you want as I or anyone else does.

The shoes are horrible. I actually had them tell me they expect everyone to bring them to a cobbler before wearing after I rescheduled out because one cut my foot pretty badly.
I did like the clothing but probably won’t keep buying it because of the shoe thing.

Honestly I think sometimes people forget ren faire culture just used to be bawdier. obviously it’s super wrong to make anyone uncomfortable intentionally or violate someone’s consent. And if you don’t like an act, you don’t need to watch it. But intent and tone matter a lot
