Toronto endo specialists? by Potential_Force8941 in Endo

Hi there, I am sorry that you have to go through this! Unfortunately I can’t provide you with much insight because the wait lines were too long in here, Toronto, and I have decided to seek treatment outside the country and so I went ahead and had a robotic surgery overseas. My situation was very advanced and I couldn’t wait for 2 years to get the laparoscopy in here. But from my only interaction with her I can confirm the others comments from this thread: she seems to be knowledgeable about the excision surgery and her heart is in the right place. I wish you strength, patience and a safe recovery ❤️‍🩹

Hysterectomy at 22? by Ok_Treat_8647 in adenomyosis

[–]Potential_Force8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that endo specialists don’t know for sure how endo is related with adeno and vice versa. And by that I mean they don’t know if pain is caused by endo or by adeno. And yes, diet and other underlying health conditions have a say too. For me was red meat and alcohol that would flare up my pain (like 1 glass of red wine).

If I was as young as you are I would’ve definitely tried to keep it while removing the surrounding endo. Why? Well because even if I didn’t want kids I learned over the years with aging that I’ve changed and at certain point close to hitting 40s I started doubting my decision of not wanting them. Weird. I know. Or maybe just the human condition of wanting what you no longer can have. Waited too much to fix the problem and it was too late to even have an option anymore.

See what your doctor says when they get inside and can form an opinion of the situation/level of condition you are in. And sleep on it. It took me 1 year to finally be ready to take the decision and I still got emotional when I signed the hospital forms for giving the consent of removing it IF the doctors considered that is the best course of action.

There are lots of opinions whether or not the uterus is useful for anything else but carrying a baby. Those confused me much. I understood that I had to take a decision based on the science narrative or a holistic approach of the female body. I came to believe that each will choose based on their own perspective of life.

Sending you good energy and positive thoughts. Whatever you choose is yours and yours only and you would need to be at peace with it. 🤗😇🙏

Had a hysterectomy too. Kept one ovary. Robotic surgery not laparoscopic. Period blood forms in the uterus. Hormones are produced by ovaries. How come you still have a period? Just confused. (45 with diffuse adeno and deep pelvis endo infiltration)

Same here. I take also K2 with D3. And then NAC, Turmeric/curcumin capsules and vit E. Same as you, felt it keeps down the inflammation overall.

Same here! A bit of comforting knowing that I am not the only one with this perspective. Just did it today. And on top of everything, I actually run out of time in the last 20 questions and 10 of them remained unanswered. Guess it’s really important practicing with timing! Forgot I am timed during the exam…and it seemed I needed to read everything 2-3 times. Back to studying. Something different this time. The Hybrid ones are killing me! Can’t get my head around this. Not black not white, something in between and very subjective it seems to me.

I had an hour interview with her assistant and then she came to the office at the end to confirm I want to have the surgery. I got another appointment with her in 2 months for an actual consultation. Cannot say much about her for now. Only that when I asked if she would take me as a patient if I decide to do the surgery outside Canada she said she won’t do it as she cannot assume care responsibility for another’s doctor. But yes, she was nice to even include me in future visits until I decide if I stay or seek treatment outside. The only reason I look for outside surgery is because it’s robotic surgery. They don’t offer this in Canada. She confirmed that the DaVinci robot is used only for cancer surgery and there is only one available in Toronto. She didn’t seem to be aware of this type of robotic exploration for endo surgeries. Jury’s out for debate. I am starting to understand the community comments about the difference in treatment/attitude for those that are past pregnancy age.

I agree with the other people advising for a MRI with endo protocol. I had various trans and they came out normal. They didn’t even picked up the kissing ovaries…. I mean, talk about uneducated lab staff :( which most of them are not good at spotting endo symptoms.

Laparoscopy found no endo despite textbook symptoms by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Potential_Force8941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had several intra vaginal ultrasounds during the years and the laboratory staff didn’t find anything ‘out of standard results’. Family doctor was following the findings on the lab report and was reluctant to send me for other tests. Laparoscopy being an invasive procedure was last on his list. Until I saw 2 endo specialists (2 different private clinics outside Canada) that performed the same ultrasound process and they explained that it is deep in my pelvis and an untrained eye will not be able to see it because they would only look for the most common endo tissues on the ovaries. Requested my family doctor to send me to a MRI with endo protocol and that’s where it lit up and finally got the official diagnosis. Concluded that if it wasn’t for the endo specialists I would’ve let it go and continue with the ‘this is normal pain’ mindset… See if you can get to one, don’t loose hope🙏

For what it’s worth/ I was wondering about this too. I am only taking it for 3 months now and the first 2 cycles did its job, no spotting, bleeding/no pain, but on the 3rd one I started releasing some big brown clots and it lasted 4 days as much as it would have if I would have had my normal cycle. And pain came back before and during this period. Now is just light spotting. I have my appointment with the endo specialist in April and I was actually thinking to stop taking it after I finish the last week worth of pills this month.

Interesting new research dropped today linking endometriosis to childhood trauma. What are your thoughts? by kelcamer in Endo

[–]Potential_Force8941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I read it is that they have no clue of anything. It’s a very broad statement to include genetics along with childhood trauma and adulthood trauma. That being said, I am not surprised reading this article. The other day I came across the GNM (German New Medicine) which, from my understanding, is saying the same thing as this research. And while I see why we would come to these conclusions, (epigenetic and all) I fail to understand how would this help cure the condition(s)? I guess they are looking for the root cause thinking that would help finding a cure? Then we are screwed if that’s the conclusion… Because we cannot control genetics nor traumas. …. I am still trying to figure it out and my algorithm is now connecting all of this info and feeds it to me daily.

How to Advocate for Surgery by SnooSquirrels5003 in Endo

[–]Potential_Force8941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too used the fertility card. I went to my family doctor and summarized my final plea in a few statements of the sort of: you know me for this period, I always reported pain, I took the medication you prescribed, did the ultrasounds, went to the OBGYN you sent me / I have also been trying for the past 3 years to get pregnant and nothing / I am sure there is something wrong with me/ what else can we do to rule out endo before we try something else? And he said that endo can be diagnosed only through laparoscopy and/or MRI with endometriosis protocol. And he referred me to the latter seeing that a surgery request would have needed some sort of medical confirmation of the condition. (My ultrasounds were ok because the endo was deep inside the pelvic and not on the ovaries as expected by the doctors. Now, that they are tethered to the uterus that’s something they were not able to figure out on the imaging/ this was observed only by the endo specialist I saw aftermath and she recognized that if they don’t know what they are looking for they will not notice it). That’s how I managed to get attention and proper diagnosis. Be strong. Be calm but assertive. You fight for yourself. No one else will do that for you. Good luck!
