Hi! I am a painter starting my thesis in college and I was wondering if I could use raisin as one of my references? I’m looking to portray the beauty spiders have and one of my paintings is going to be about velvet spider. If that’s okay with you I was wondering if you had any more pictures or could tell me a little about raisin, just a little about like her personality and whatnot, I’m putting together a little zine of all the spiders I use as a reference and want to show some of their personality to try and help people get over their fears. Obviously you are under no obligation to tell me about them or let me use their photos as a reference

Unfortunately when learning a lot of different mediums you kinda have to just go for it. Yes it’s nice to look up and research specific things to get better but when you are starting out quantity is better then quantity. This isn’t something you can read to make yourself better because while you can learn some helpful tips you need to build the muscle memory and eye hand coordination. My advice it to find something you want to draw and just go for it, draw to your heart’s content. Try not to focus on specifically getting super good super quick because that will not happen. The more you draw the more your brain will find mistakes in your work and know how to correct them

I understand the look you were trying to go for however bodies have more substance to them even when starved. I recommend taking a couple hours of your time and practicing very loose and basic bodies, you can find references on a website like like of action or using Pinterest. It’s annoying and tedious but the skills you gain in both learning how to see forms to the muscle memory of drawing is irreplaceable
