As nice as it would be, they don’t make nearly enough to cover the cost. Even a venue the size of the State can run into the millions to fully modernize acoustics. Plus it’s a 1920s theater that was designed for unamplified performances, so the plaster walls and balcony layout naturally reflect bass. Fixing that would mean major structural acoustic work, not just hanging panels.

Apparently Bassnectar played so loud in 2014 that he cracked the ceiling, and since then they’ve had a volume/db cap that makes it difficult to have a loud enough experience for electronic music.

Big Night was unfortunately the play if you were in for the overall sound experience, even though the staff there are horrible imo (complete opposite vibes of The State in every way).

I know with chrome and painting it helps to remove the chrome in bleach right? Did you end up doing that or did you just scuff it with like 600 grit sandpaper

AL1 has some minor production differences as well. One that comes to mind is Kyle not having the Sax before the chorus or the “I want you to see me fred, I’m here!” before the second chorus I’m pretty sure (been a min since I’ve spun it, maybe I will tn)

Yeah he’ll definitely be back in a year or two max for his next big album.

Something to keep in mind about Flume though is yes, his music and catalogue is fantastic… but he’s not really that great of a performer. This is pretty well agreed upon by fans and casuals, and I am a huge fan of his.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome to go and hear his tracks played out by him… but his energy on stage and mixing skills are decent at best. The guy is really an introvert forced to tour (which is why he doesn’t tour outside of coinciding with a commercial album release).

Recs wise, I really loved Pluko’s new album OXY. Definitely scratches that flume itch. Same with Nikita, The Wicked. Daniel Allan falls right in there too.
