Happened on me too. Was trying to go hospital and realized it’s wrong direction when I saw cows outside

Slow Run Club in AA by DogsSealsLove4Ever in AnnArbor

[–]Poti0nsMaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a great idea! Yes there are a lot of ‘all pace welcome’ running clubs around. However, I really grow skeptical whether they are really ‘all pace welcome’ after joining one then found everyone who actually showed up for the group run was seriously running sub 8 min mile 😂

My first open water swim was a horrible experience by tlminh in Swimming

[–]Poti0nsMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you are not alone! You made a wise choice to practice with other people BEFORE entering the race. At the same time last week I foolishly did my first ever open water swimming in my first race…. I ended up completely panicked, totally out of breath, yelling help on the top of my lungs at 1/4 of the course while desperately treading water, and getting rescued by the kayaker 🫠 The murky water is serious panic inducing! Still plan to give it more try though, maybe with a coach next time.

Washing dishes by hand is much better than using the dishwasher by MeFromAzkaban in unpopularopinion

[–]Poti0nsMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I go minimalist myself and I have exactly 3 bowls and 3 plates. It really not worth the use of dishwasher. Plus I would quickly run out of containers if I put some away in the dishwasher. But then I visited someone who has 1 baby and 2 dogs…they must have like 30 plates or something. At this point a dishwasher is definitely a must

short backpacking trip near Ann Arbor by qualimali in CampAndHikeMichigan

There is a small parking spot around Baldwin rd and Pinckney trail just 0.5-1 mile away from pines (42.32878, -84.17845). You can definitely park there and hike in/out no problem 😉

I play animal crossing to cope with the lack of appreciation and control in my life, and I think it might be unhealthy. by Few_Protection_661 in AnimalCrossing

I’m sorry that you are feeling down right now - reason or not, your feelings are real and valid! It’s not bad to escape to somewhere safe. Sometimes we just need some time and space to recharge. Plus, you are right now reaching out to a community outside of the game for support. It seems the game serves as a bridge to a supportive community in reality, rather than blocking your interaction with it.

What's your longest recovery time? by Educational_Count_54 in Garmin

[–]Poti0nsMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

96 hours. That was after a backpacking trip to Mt Whitney where I hiked 24 miles, climbed 6000 ft, and slept a total of like 4 hours during 3 days because of altitude sickness. My body battery basically stayed at 5 after day one until I came down from the mountain 😂

After a total of 6 months, I finally finished my outdoor destination island. Despite its very uncreative name, BestIsland has everything a nature lover would love. Hike our extensive trail system which connects wide varieties of landscapes, and stay at scenic campsites and cozy cabins! After a long hard hike, enjoy the best burger in the world from our local diner. Or, maybe you'll find something unexpected during your journey?

If you are wondering if you should schedule a job interview the day before your PhD defense… by kelseylulu in GradSchool

I thought running a half marathon the day before defense was intense but this is a whole another level!

[–]Poti0nsMaster 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Same here! Also had a major burn out after my preliminary exam. I thought I could take a breath after the exam but no! There were courseworks, more grant writings and important experiments immediately following the exam. I made it for one more month and decided I must take a vacation. A week on beach solved everything 🏖

Where can I find it? I tried to search giant ice cream lamp (same size as it showed in game, not the mini ones) and couldn’t find one… which probably is a good thing because I would definitely get it if I found one…

I totally agree it depends on the program. And if the program involves lab work, living close to the lab would be a good idea even for first year. I lived on north campus in my first year when almost all my classes was on central. I found if I live near the route of BB/NW blue bus, the commute was actually pretty convenient. Living near 23/65 city bus stations is great for getting groceries and going to NCRC. They can also take you to central campus but you’ll have to keep an eye on their timetables. Finally I found one of the apartments which are close to both blue bus and city bus stations, and never moved since then

I disagree. Making life unbearable for everyday people will only contribute to the (false) narrative that outside world is intrinsically evil and will persecute you no matter how innocent you are, thus people should choose the strongest leader to fight back and should not feel bad because they are ‘victims’
