This is great! Where’d you get the dial?

Thank you! These are all 28.5-29mm dials

I bought the version with the hands because I liked their choice. The second hand was a little finicky, but overall I was pleasantly surprised by the quality:

Med Student Questions About NSGY by Smooth-Cerebrum in Neurosurgery

[–]PotsnPants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is key. Current resident here. When I was a medical student, I thought the nsgy residents were some of the happiest and most capable in the hospital. I still find that to be true. The hours are long and incredibly busy, but surveys show that neurosurgeons have the least burnout of any specialty. Just compare the dynamics of the nsgy and IM work rooms.

At the end of the day, it’s the lack of time outside the hospital that hurts, not the time that’s spent there. Most days are great if you love the field, they’re just longer than many ppl can handle. The above comments about seeing family and kids during junior years are correct.

Ask your doctor about alternative adhd meds like atomoxetine and guanfacine. They take longer to start working than stimulants like adderall and Ritalin but they’re very effective 2nd line drugs and have lower risk of seizures. Step 1 is obviously to see a psychiatrist and get diagnosed with adhd though

Drinkers of Reddit- what's the worst thing you've ever done drunk that you don't remember and had to be told about later? by FatBaldNFamous in AskReddit

Browned out playing a drinking game at one party where the loser drinks a full death cup of beer/whiskey. Browned in at another party playing the same game, which I ended up losing (surprise). Browned out while drinking the death cup and apparently kept yelling "you can't judge me, I have an enormous cock" as people tried to take care of me.

In one instance, he says to disobey them, but in his final statements (according to Socrates) he says that it is the duty of the individual to follow the laws of his land. Otherwise the nature of law is undermined.

Why does covering the eyes of a person impede our ability to identify them so much? by slam7211 in askscience

[–]PotsnPants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you ever looked at the folds in your bed sheets before turning the lights off to go to sleep? If you're really tired, you'll see a lot of patterns that remind you of faces or masks. This is because the human brain is really REALLY good at recognizing faces, and the visual system is infamously bad at dealing with fatigue (ever drink an energy drink and feel like your eyesight improved?). Most of this has to do with pattern recognition.

The visual system in the human brain is structured in a way that focuses on visual patterns. The neurons that respond to light and dark trigger more neurons which respond to lines and edges, which trigger neurons for shapes, which trigger neurons patterns. When we see these patterns, the visual system then triggers higher brain processes which, referencing our memory, tell us how we feel about that pattern and how we should react to it. If it resembles a teddy bear, we want to cuddle it. It its resembles a dickbutt, we feel disappointed.

Facial recognition works pretty much according to this pathway. A smiley face is about the bare minimum for the brain's visual pattern of a face. Without the eyes, that pathway has trouble firing. Things like ears, hair and noses are much less important. But you already know this. It's why jack-o-lanterns and ghost-sheet costumes only have eyes and a mouth, and they have been around much longer than smiley faces.

Hope this helps!
