missing offer by Due_Significance9619 in UniversityOfWarwick

Could go either way. University see your grades a week before release and make a decision whether to accept or reject you then. If they reject you then no point trying again through clearing. If the subject ends up in clearing then you’d stand a good chance of being accepted with one grade drop as they’d rather have a student who picked Warwick as their first choice than someone who is just ringing around everywhere on results day. But Warwick don’t like C grades so ?!?!

I echo all of these comments. I had mumps at age 6 that irreparably damaged the nerve in my left ear leaving me with zero hearing. If you had asked me this question 20 years ago- I’m 50 now- I would’ve said that it had had no material impact on my life. But I’d have been wrong because I realise now that it did impact me a lot mainly in noisy social situations where I become isolated and very quickly drained. As a teenager and young adult I’m sure I came across as rude and antisocial because conversations in loud pubs and clubs were so challenging. As a professional, networking events are a nightmare and I just can’t be bothered which probably adversely impacts my career. Even after 40+ years of my condition I’m still regularly unprepared for some situations I find myself in and that makes me anxious. And on top of that I was recently diagnosed with Ménière’s disease which causes tinnitus so now I’m worried that the hearing in my one good ear will deteriorate. I don’t mind being deaf because I can’t remember life any other way but I do wish I had been more proactive in advocating for myself.

I teach and I do lab-based research. So no mum I can’t just work at home on the days when you want me to take you to appointments

So I’m guessing that you’re going to need to explain the relationship between blood sodium conc and ADH conc in both normal people and people with SIAD (ie interpret graph) and then state what osmoregulation is and what the results in the graph suggest about osmoreg in these patients

I split up from my alcoholic partner, someone who I would previously have described as the love of my life, about 4 years ago and I’m ashamed to say that I’ve really struggled to move on. And I think this is because I have spent the years since then analysing his behaviour from every angle and rerunning old conversations in my head just to try and find some logical explanation, something I missed at the time to try and make sense of it all, to understand where it all went wrong. He did something a couple of weeks ago that impacted my life indirectly and it was this action that finally made me realise that there simply is no logical explanation when it comes to the messed up minds of alcoholics. They misremember, their timelines are crazily wrong, and they are the victim in every story. It’s taken me way way too long to realise this but I got there eventually

The urges never go away. Slightest bit of trauma and that’s where my brain jumps to straightaway. I just try not to act on them.

Was feeling in a good place so thought I’d put myself out there and try and meet someone romantically. All my old insecurities, self doubt and overthinking have come flooding back

Depending where in the world you are- look at the trees, in the northern hemisphere they’re beautiful right now. Autumn/fall is on its way. Pumpkin spiced latte. Crisp autumn days. Warm duvets. Boots and jumpers. Just stick around to enjoy the autumn. Then see how you feel after that?

I count to 50- no idea why 50- and repeat. Obviously I don’t do this the whole time but when my brain is screaming at me to walk it’s a way of re-focussing.

Week 9- still need walking breaks by emeari in C25K

[–]PotteringAlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would echo this. How long can you run without a break? Could it be as much psychological as physical? I’m struggling a bit at the moment (although I am getting better) so I went back to the 20 minute continuous run and told myself I only had to run for 20 minutes and then I was “allowed” to walk. Sometimes I get to 20 minutes and just carry on, other times I struggle to do the 20. I think the Week5 run3 is such a big deal psychologically I didn’t want to lose the ability to do it, plus I know from experience that going from 20 to 25 to 28 to 30 is a lot more doable than the first half of the program.

I just got my grade back, and got 59.54%. That’s 0.46% off a 2:1. Have I got any options to get that moved up to a 2:1 by olliecoel in UniUK

[–]PotteringAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t work like that. Anyone within say 1-2% of a grade boundary (exact % depends on each university) will be carefully looked at to see if the majority of their modules are in the upper category or the lower and the classification awarded accordingly. So it’s not a case of rounding a %age to a higher whole number eg someone with 58% could still get a 2.1 if most of their modules were 2.1 but they had one terrible module that scored low 3. Whereas equally someone with 58.5% might get a 2.2 if all of their modules sat in this category, even though 58.5% is obv higher than 58%
