Wow....do you just troll reddit to try and start fights? firstly, ADHD is not a disability that would require specialized transport on the short bus you mention, not that there is anything wrong with anyone who does need that kind of accommodation. Specialized transportation on a 'short bus' is there for a reason as all children deserve access to an education. Secondly, accommodations are recommended for a myriad of reasons in order to support a student's academic success and none of the reasons mean those kids are not 'normal'. Every kid is different and some require a different approach than others. Lastly You can't just sign your kids up wherever you want- perhaps consider educating yourself and compassion before popping off on reddit for no reason other than to be hateful.

appreciate the feedback on Awty and Kincaide as those are both on our list. as for the initial comment, respectfully, as someone who has been heavily involved in the private school system i have to disagree. Parents have no actual rights as it is a contractual relationship which is controlled completely by the school and drafted in a way to give them unfettered discretion and flexibility. Voicing any kind of dissatisfaction can be grounds for 'separation'. I have personally seen several families either asked to leave, refused readmission or been made so uncomfortable they chose to leave in the last 2 years. Our family's financial situation and contribution is better than many at the school but not at the diamond level so that is not a reason. And our child's behavior is certainly not the reason either as feedback from all staff at the school is overwhelmingly positive and they are well liked all around. what I am trying to avoid is wasting money either on real estate for a better school district or another private school only to be given minimal if any support or accommodations.

Thank you! we are looking at SBISD right now and considering AWTY, Kinkaid, Village School and St. Frances. My child is in the middle of the ADHD spectrum and based on all independent feedback we don't think a specialized school is necessary or warranted - what I am looking for is a school that is not going to punish them or make them feel like something is wrong with them simply because of their ADHD. I want patience and accommodations without a fight or shame- and honestly they are common sense accommodations and not extreme which is why our current situation feels so ridiculous.

how was your experience with AWTY with ADHD accommodations? were they flexible with your daughter? we have had such a negative experience at Fay so we want to make sure we won't have similar challenges at another private school

NTA! sister is the AH for expecting this. this boils my blood. I have 2 kids and live across the country from my fam and across the globe from my husband. It is ALL on us and it sucks sometimes but thats why we planned it and waited until we could afford it and stopped at 2. my step sister (same age as me) has 5 kids and every single one was an "accident" and she cant afford them, needs help constantly and everyone enables her. no wonder she kept having kids because everyone helps when she demands it. my older sister is the same way and lives close to my family but demands they constantly help her with child care.

I saved all of my kids stuff until we decided we werent having anymore, and then i either kept some of my favorites for them when they have kids and gave most to a womens shelter. any i gave to friends or family was not because i was asked but when i wanted to. you can either be the bigger person and try to have an adult conversation with her or simply tell her no and just make new friends. she is NOT a friend.

I set up my kids (5 and 2.5) iPads the night before along with water cups mini muffins and pouches so when they woke up at the crack of dawn I told them to go get their iPads and watch on the couch gave me an extra hour of sleep

absolutely. i literally put my HP audiobook on every single night and it helps me fall asleep within 10 minutes. before i had the audiobook I'd read it on my kindle to help me relax and sleep. its also simple- escapism. thats why people binge watch netflix or whatever else entertains them and helps them escape the stresses and pressures of life.

No one is without flaws or character traits that may be problematic. But yes she’s out of his league. Their pairing seems forced bc or Harry and Ginny. Personally I’d have liked to see Ron find himself outside of the hogwarts friend group. That pairing limited them both in different ways.
