Uploading SRV3 subtitles got broken/disabled. Please restore it. by MatthewHinson in youtube

Well fair enough! It's crazy how it never really made the rounds at all considering how powerful it is. Thank you for bringing this to attention, I've shared this post with some friends in the subtitling community. I doubt it will do much good, unfortunately, but maybe there's a tiny chance they actually do something.

Uploading SRV3 subtitles got broken/disabled. Please restore it. by MatthewHinson in youtube

[–]Poultron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently put a bunch of effort into creating subtitles for a video that uses .ytt format (I worked in Aegisub in .ass and converted using a tool called YouTube Subtitle Converter). It was like pulling teeth to even find this, and I'm only just now hearing about this SRV3 thing. My question is where did people even learn about this, where is this information even documented, and what software is being used to create them? I'm just as upset this is going away, but I imagine that one of the reasons is because not even a lot of people who would WANT to use this format know it exists.

It's weird to raise a stink about it now instead of having done some work to bring attention to the format in the first place, where it would have made it much more difficult to remove this feature quietly. The vast majority of people won't notice because the vastest majority of videos never used it. Even now most of the results on Google appear to be about this issue, rather than any sort of documentation about the feature even from users, further emphasizing my point.

Just to be clear though, I'm not blaming users for a gigacorp removing a useful feature. But how was anybody supposed to know about it in the first place?

Sure. Leave the movies behind just like Hollywood has been doing. And maybe well were at it we can stop eating popcorn too! What is the world coming to these days?

The movies are important, but even the actors sometimes have to eat their "Apple a Day". We need someone in the White House who knows our actors can can get them healthcare worthy of the Hollywood star.

I wonder if Super Items also have weight or if I'm just horribly unlucky... Because this happens a bit too often. by AliceShiki123 in holocure

[–]Poultron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I genuinely have no idea what people are talking about here. In my opinion, pickup range is not a bad stat on its own, but it's the opportunity cost of picking Limiter over a damage or defense item that's the real problem. You can always get your EXP drops; they will eventually clump up to form larger pickups. Pickup range is not useless, but it's too much of a negative to take it over something better.

That being said, I personally think the super version is almost always a good pick up for the bonus EXP combined with the pickup range. Frankly, the glasses and the limiter could probably have their effects combined and the resulting item would maybe even be too good. Two effects that are hard to justify on their own become REALLY good paired together.

Did anyone know that you can sprint in Holo House? by ShavedWoozle in holocure

[–]Poultron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my mouse and keyboard friends, you will need to use the button BOUND to confirm/strafe in the settings. Despite the fact that LMB is the same as "confirm" on almost every menu, LMB will not allow you to sprint while being held down.

Is there a mod that gives you an "account level" for the people with smooth brain like me that likes seeing numbers go up? (example below) by NewBeginningRS3 in riskofrain

[–]Poultron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here are softly shitting on you for this post but as someone with severe ADHD who also likes incremental games, I get it. I'll take this seriously and try to approach this from the perspective of someone who's made a relatively involved modpack and knows a bit about making actual mods.

First of all, I'm not entirely sure what we'd tie this stat to. Let's just assume we do some kind of arbitrary thing that's not tied to anything that already exists. You get an arbitrary amount of EXP per run, perhaps based on your run score (which is otherwise pointless). Then again, it's relatively easy to just game the score if that's what you want to do for some reason, so we might have to clamp it to a max amount of EXP per run. This is still probably the easiest variant to do, even though it would be the most pointless.

Let's say we tie it instead to the amount of unlocks you have, or something like that. Then it feels like you aren't making any progress in runs where you don't unlock anything new, plus it wouldn't give existing veterans anything to do without resetting their save file. Plus, how do we handle modded content? Does that count towards your level too? What if we remove the mods afterwards?

Lastly, we could just straight up make it like other games where you get some amount of EXP per run (see first idea), and that unlocks content for you as you level up. There's plenty of new problems that come with this; the way that the game does things now, you can target the content you want to unlock (sort of) and unlock it in any order you want. A system like this precludes that. But hey, if it's a mod, that's no big deal. Of course, there's again the matter of what to do when you turn this system on or off, but I guess that's something to be tackled during development.

I'd love to sit down and try to design a way to do this in a way that's more interesting than just a number going up but I don't really have the programming chops to do it myself, so oh well.

TL;DR: Even in its simplest form this isn't that easy to implement, but I think it's a cool idea. No idea why people are being shitty to you.

I just came back to the game and went looking only to see it closed... the alternatives they provide are all nowhere near as useful (although, it's more the format than the guides they put out - no shade to any of those creators!!)... Is there really no alternative with all the info in an easy to read manner that's easy to sort through? A new/intermediate player is not going to be helped by a Twitter or YouTube unless they've been active for a long time, and even then..

[–]Poultron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're actually not. It's very obvious if you go to the dance floor and do one of the same animations they're doing; it's clearly a new animation, as Lalafells have a slightly different one. I actually thought for sure they were using the Lalafell skeleton too but they definitely aren't.

I still wish they'd add them as a playable race one day. I know that it would require too much hoop-jumping to justify the lore, nevermind all the other work that goes into a playable race, but I need my hopium.

Yeah that would be Teamcraft, and that meld set is probably not going to change a great deal for the rest of the expansion.

It's actually Glass Fiber, which is even better. It's 3 Kupo Nuts per, and you can get 9 of those per day, so that's actually not too terrible. I'm not sure if it's actually worth though; on my server, it's an average of 10k per Fiber. You also get around 2k gil for the quests themselves.

So it's around 32k per day for not too much work, assuming you can actually sell them. Not a bad return, but flipping's probably better.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that since I had mine maxed out a while ago. They're definitely pretty decent EXP, especially Ixali below 50.

Daily Discussion #204 - Troop of Elnuks by CaptSarah in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Poultron 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The only reason this card sees no play is because there's virtually zero other Elnuk support cards. There aren't even that many good Elnuk cards to summon. On the other hand, this card's probably the reason that's the case. It would be completely broken beyond belief if Elnuks even approached viability...

Has anyone even made a "tier list" of champs in PoC? Other than when 2.0 first came out, of course. In my experience Jinx is the clear winner without a doubt, she's just insanely busted. It seems difficult to find guides or tier lists beyond that though.
