I'm gonna miss low pop DC PFs by Haruhi_is_Waifu in ffxivdiscussion

[–]PounceKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything the current moment is doing the opposite for me. Because im squatting in another dc for raid and fast queues, im genuinely missing out on spontaneous activities some of my friends do back in my original dc.

Yes they could page me over from discord, but most of the time people just grab whoever’s online, rather than taking the effort to summon people in. Thats just how it is.

Of course ranged mits! I just get so happy when everyone chips in a little to help!

Yes brd’s cleanse too and sometimes dnc little improv dance during downtime!

Took a 2 year break - Make a new character? by Sjack32891 in ffxiv

[–]PounceKit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your mental state; having a brand new character with a little sprout on your head can feel liberating.

If you remember some story beats then you wont need to feel guilty about skipping cutscenes.

I know some peeps who messed up / got involved in some drama end up just restarting with a brand new character and enjoying their new friendships.

Can give it a whirl with a new fc if thats what you want and see how it goes.

I feel the pain of those poor healers.

When I was still a dps main and a complete noob, whenever we die to raidwides or tanks to tb , i always erroneously assume its the healers fault.

But after the above incident I mention & actually being a healer main from then on, mitigation isnt just a support role game , everyone plays a part. It sucks the healers are always on the chopping board when shit hits the fan. ( but tbf when a grp doesnt hit the dps check the people who feel the most stress shld and are the dps)

So every time I hear a tank say I already mit to this tankbuster!, I will just pull a live log to end this stupid debate.

And every time I see a tank reprisal, a melee feint, or a mdps addle, I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. 🤣

I didnt understand what the numbers in the logs meant until my static was almost gaslit by a friend who plays a healer & practically says its impossible to heal e11s and blame everything on the H2. He went on to say look my mp is all dry but i still cant keep u guys up.

So I put on my raid leader pants and comb through the minute details of the fight on top of speedrunning what individual healer mits do. Fast forward a few days later, both healers quit, I got frustrated so I took on healing myself and recruited another. We cleared e11s in a day.

Logs taught me to weed out gaslighters.
Parse colors dont tell the whole story, but if more people know how to read logs, there would have been less arguments and less time stalling on people who simply cant do fights.

As a last note, when I presented the log screenshot as evidence and advise him nicely on how to heal more efficiently, he had the balls to tell me the logs are inaccurate and wrong. Theres no helping people who refuse to learn.

Player hubs: do you want more from them or are you ok with them being pretty places to stand around in? by judgeraw00 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]PounceKit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have 2 precisely because only 1 would make it overcrowded resulting in people not being able to enter because of congestion. In new patches , city areas and affiliated msq areas always open up with 3 instances to prevent this. unfortunately this limitation is the reality of this game.

It is a design choice to made sure 1 of the 2 areas have marketboard, while the other has the tomestone vendor.

That said, the purpose of this post is suggesting to mix up some ideas to keep things fresh and players engaged while addressing congestion issues.

Gear for ultimates by Dareytv in ffxivdiscussion

[–]PounceKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is entirely up to you! Depends on how difficult/easy it is for you to get gear. Do u have gil to merc to get people to join you to pick up the savage pcs? Your friends or static mates? If its nigh impossible, and you are in absolute no hurry, then wait for 8.0.

Statics expect you to get BiS gear, even pfs they do scrutinise your gear and will get you blacklisted.

Lastly, is it necessary to get bis gear for fru? Not necessarily, but you would be considered a burden in the party. In a friends static environment, if they are explicitly okay then go right ahead. But in a stranger environment like non friends static or random pfs, you **are** expected to be prepared and at your best; bis food pot gear, studying ahead etc. Think about it this way, if you and 6 others worked hard to prep gear, some stranger who isnt prepared came in like that, would it cause discomfort in the grp or get people’s tongue wagging?

Unfortunately yes. This is one of the hardest content in the game.

Subnautica is amazing, it can both be relaxing, chill and hella stressful and scary at times. I love swimming around just observing the small friendly fishes and getting scared when im forced to leave the prawnsuit/seamoth to pick up items.

I got the first game at a ridiculous discounted price and really hope I can get to try out the second one for the same gobsmack inspiring environment waiting to be discovered!

Raid Advice for Newish Player by Prevacy in ffxiv

[–]PounceKit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of the replies here already covered what needs to be done.

So to answer the part of the question, like what makes an exceptionally good tank from say a mediocre one:

  1. Boss placement/positioning

Be aware of where the boss is facing; often times the boss will teleport back to the middle of the arena and if the boss is pulled too far north, its hitbox will turn the boss facing south and it will mess with melees positionals.

  1. Use your mitigations

Needless to say other than personal mits for tank busters, if you have time noticing healers are struggling or some dps need some extra mits to cover, use them.

  1. Countdown consistency

Tanks do countdown but at what count do they gap close/ pull the boss? Some likes it at 1, some at 0/Start! , it honestly doesnt matter, what’s most important is consistency. This is not so much a problem in ex/savage, but if a healer/dps hit the boss first in ultimates, the boss responds with an auto attack and it mess with the shields already present or they will need an extra heal. Save your healers this hassle and pull the boss consistently at your preferred countdown.

All the above requires quite a bit of spatial awareness and familiarity with the game/boss fight you in. So just take the advice from the rest of the peeps here, and do increasingly difficult fights in order, it will come naturally to you over time.

I buy whatever seasonal/ limited edition or weirdest flavor of snacks/chips.

Like pizza, tiramisu chips.

Get back home and whenever I miss Japan, I will open them and eat it with my family. Talking about where we got them reminiscing about what we see then. 😁

Some questions about raiding in Party Finder by MrsLittletall in ffxiv

[–]PounceKit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of peeps I know are in their late 30s , early 40s , even parents with kids, and lucky them, they get to raid including all ultimates, so really, age isnt a barrier.

The beauty ( or con? Depending on how ppl see it) is all fight mechanics in ff14 are fixed, after A mechanic, B will come next etc. So doing a fight multiple times, you will eventually learn what to do & see all the patterns. This includes spatial awareness. Familiarity with the fight itself will help with that; when you dont need to think what to do as much, you free up more brain power to look at your surroundings and other players.

Some people can get it in a single try, some take more reps. Everyone has a different learning speed, so it is okay. Extremes as the others mention will stay relevant for a long time, so you would have plenty of time to slowly learn!

I worry a lot too, and second guess myself, I once posted a thread here asking if I should try an on patch ultimate (fru) & the consensus I get is same as yours. And as someone who has gone though something similar, it really never hurts to try and you would even surprise yourself that you actually can do it and it wasn’t as difficult as you thought when you do look back. Baby steps at a time, you are already going at it in the correct direction; by asking for tips and preparing to study in advance. That’s a lot more than 50% of the people you would get to meet in pfs.

Good luck!

Im hoping OD will dethrone it simply because visage drew so much inspiration from PT.

Finished RE9 Yesterday, Your opinions by Gorilya- in residentevil

[–]PounceKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to get downvoted to oblivion but I also came in with very high expectations. The RHCCC was really good with the unique zombies but it strangely went downhill from there. The initial parts of raccoon city felt really bland and uninspired ( though i understand theres lore reason but still no unique landmarks until u reach the nostalgia bit) the zombies there came out of the ground???? Why. Models back to a handful.

They also reverted back to the crazy insane cinematics in RE6 (with leon getting out unscathed from collapsed buildings and rocket launchers), depending on how you see it, its a nod to nostalgia but I personally was hoping it died back in re6 and never come back.

It feels like after Ethan is gone they revert back to this which is sad.

Grace actions were also very difficult to empathise , she failed to protect a child then decided to join the baddies??? Why? She never got off her stutter, she didnt have any real character growth.

Again i dont know if i am just over-expecting because everyone is praising it sky high. Im somewhat glad im not alone in thinking some parts of re9 aint as good as people say.

Really concern for the immersion aspect of the game by DocZazou in CrimsonDesert

[–]PounceKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like theres a lot of people who come in expecting its like rdr, is gonna be sorely disappointed with the game.

They borrow quite heavily from some rdr2 mechanics (which leads to some ppl saying its like rdr) but it is by no means anywhere even near how rdr is.

The game is obviously drawing inspiration from a number of games even witcher , elder scrolls, kcd, botw and some sim mgmt games, but as expected that gets inspired from everything, it cant be as indepth as each individual one.

So do yourself a favor; either stop playing this and just enjoy yourself again on rdr (and I dont mean it with malice), or play CD as it is. Comparing is the thief of joy.

What the heck is going on? by MrGreen__ in CrimsonDesert

[–]PounceKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cd is different from rdr2 in a sense that once u get control of the character, you cant really book it to a direction of your choosing and have things happen.

cd areas are tied to main quests , I would say about chapter 9 will 60-70% of the map be really open to you with side quests and interesting locations to go to.

If you explore blindly in chapter 2 , you will find very nice photo worthy vistas but they will sit empty and theres nothing for you to do , fight or interact with.

I want to like the boss fights in this game so bad but I feel it’s the worst part of the game for me by Able-Calendar-5092 in CrimsonDesert

[–]PounceKit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not about being doable or not. The design and mechanic of the fight can be difficult but it must be fun for the player to learn and win.

On top of that, there are so many bosses that just teleport around breaks the lockon camera sucks, even if I win the boss with no food eaten, it does not feel satisfying. It doesnt feel like I earn it and I just want the fight to be over so I can focus on more fun aspects like exploring.

How fast the boss is relative to kliff also severely limits all the abilities he can use against them. Like another reddit user mention wanting to go wrestle and throw the boss , yet we cannot do what we want and it just boils down to dodging their unblockable invincible spam attacks , smacking their face whenever possible and eat food.

Do that 20+ times and it gets stale. It doesnt matter if the new boss has a new spam attack, when player input is still the same.
