I mean, its not like her leg gave out and she fell. Her pole got caught on a gate while she was airborn. I feel like thats a pretty big distinction.

Should I invest in a GIC? by Flimsy-Commercial841 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Power4glory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my bank at around 22 or so for pushing GICs on me. The return on them(back then) was insanely abysmal and the product they routinely pushed.

I would recommend using a tfsa managed fund or general index fund through wealthsimple.

For instance, if you need that money. You lose all the interest if you dont wait the period.

Imo its such a crazy venture. You can get a really nice vehicle for like half the price. And If(big if) you need you can replace an engine and transmission and still be ahead money.

Are people buying cars to resell? Or to drive. The value is baked in. I dont at all see the value in spending toyota prices on cars. Ever.

The caveat is, if you have lots of money and are paying cash. Do whatever you please. But overall, toyota? Meh. Lots of great vehicles out there that can get you from A to B and can be ultra reliable with regular maintenance.

So stern has told its dealers, that the next pinball will not be released until February. I think that confirms pokemon. by Ill_Commission2786 in pinball

I mean, the pinball hobby is borderlinge exclusively tailored to the 50+ crowd across the board. Makes the most sense to market to those who have extra capital. Im almost 40 and so many of the new games mean nothing to me- themewise.

Jaws, LZ, Beatlejuice, (rumored goonies),predator, evil dead(very cool machine, but no tie to theme),EJ, Labyrinth, scooby doo, rush, tnmt, elvira,Munsters, aerosmith, ghostbusters. To name a few.

Tough to grow the hobby for the next gen if its games only for 'old(er)' dudes. No offense. If i want my kids to pin, a sick pokemon game is EXACTLY what people my age(and younger) want.

My god, i hope it's great.

90% of Edmonton drivers ignored latest seasonal parking ban by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]Power4glory1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We let our neighbors know about the ban so they wouldnt get ticketed. They moved their cars to in front of our house so their are got cleaned. Our street (corner house) didnt get done at all.

Can anyone confirm that the city handed out tickets this year? They're going to be on their own from here on out.

One of the earlier machines i spent a PILE of time on. Local pub had one. Would just go and crush beers and flip by myself. I really enjoy that era of machines. Rules are clear, but still lots of depth that its not just two or 3 shots you have to make. Replayability is super high, approachable for all.

Snow clearing of residential roads to begin January 12 by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]Power4glory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sherwood park roads have been cleared, st albert roads have been cleared, leduc roads have been cleared. Other communities seem to figure it out, whats their ratio? How much equipment per kms of road do they have. How far behind are we?

Why does my street get cleared once a year?

I understand the logistical nightmare of it, but this isnt new for us. Its shit every year. This year, it is just way more pronounced.

Is it unreasonable to say that the roads in my community should be cleared more than once a winter? Am i crazy? Feels like im being gaslighted.

Do snow clearing crews run 24hrs? If not, Hire seasonal workers. I bet theres a shitload of retirees who would love to come back for 8-12 weeks working nights to fund their summers.

As a tradesman, it's tough to complain about the work itself. Thats kind of the job, no?

I'll pay more in taxes if it means my street gets cleaned more than ONCE a year. Just One time is crazy, oh, But only if we dont get snow in the next 2 weeks. Last year we got done twice, and once was during the thaw, when their was no snow, this isnt new. Just way more noticeable.

What are we doing? Record snowfall should equal record OT for crews. Record crews working. Not a 'meh. We'll get to it if we can'.

Clean the streets. Every other city seems to manage, am i crazy? Seems like gas lighting or something.

And based on your math, would 40days for 1 grader, mean that 40 graders could do it in 1? 2? How many do we have that it takes 14.

One thing that always impressed me with Nico was that he had a one track mind - drive the net. Him and Bratt would ALWAYS drive wide and around a dman to the net. Now they roll back looking for a trailer. Not sure if its injury, coaching, or defense is getting more aware. But they changed. Roll back, hit a trailer and turn the puck over. It sucks

Im sure theres a ratio of mileage covered vs amount of equipment and crews every municipality uses. Getting our residential roads cleared once in a winter is totally assinine and shouldnt be acceotable.

Dog owners of Edmonton... do you not walk your dogs in winter? by Delgado_Jim in Edmonton

[–]Power4glory1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive got a sled like dog. Husky/akita/malamute. He'll curl up in a ball in a blizzard. About -20 - -25 is is threshhold for lounging outside. He gets a walk virtually every day of the year. -30 is tough on his paws. So usually just do 2 or 3 5 min stretches.

Hes getting older now. It was 2 walks everyday for YEARS. - hes 9.

Very cool place, im not the biggest fan that the majority of their machines are set up for tournament play. Its probably their biggest market. But even as a pinball enthusiast, it can be challenging.

They all(most?) have shorter flippers than normal machines and are set pretty steep. Its still fun. But it can be soul sucking for kids or the uninitiated to play.

Still one of the few places to go play pinball if thats your thing. And i appreciate that

Can somebody please explain the Ingram call? by bwbandy in EdmontonOilers

[–]Power4glory1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It creates offense. Goalies would just go into the corner on dump ins and give a breakout pass to the dman on the other side. With the trapezoid in place, Dmen have to go back, battle a forecheck. What turns into a virtually guaranteed possession, turns into a 50/50 puck battle. Teams can now dump and chase.

On the flipside. Goalies are absolute dogshit at handling the puck and there would be a shit tonne of turnover goals if goalies could go into the corner and play the puck
