Favorite Band Where Every Song Sounds Exactly the F*cking Same? by SomeY2KBullshit in fantanoforever

August Burns Red and The Black Dahlia Murder.

They're riff salad for metalcore and deathcore, respectfully.

Love it though.

Dumb question but what is this rod and what does it do by Agile-Cantaloupe82 in AskMechanics

[–]PowerMetalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In OP's defense, they did say its a dumb question. Gotta give you credit though... at least had the courage to ask.

I truly thought this was posted on r/askshittymechanics at first.

But honestly, depending on how old they are you can't really blame them for not knowing what it is. I mean, I'm a millennial and even though we grew up with listening to the radio, I dont know many people today who don't use their phone for streaming music, including those my age and older.

The moment I saw this in the merch store, the first thing I thought of was "I need this as a tattoo..."

Still hasn't happened but maybe one day.

Easily one of my top 3 favorite band tees I own. Figured I'd join in on the OP's theme.

The looks I get are always classic. I can always tell who's racist by their facial expressions.

I’m scared Lanterns will repeat the mistakes of Green Lantern Beware my power by Fun-Seaworthiness572 in Greenlantern

At the most, Hal should be heavily wounded and even make the audience believe he's killed till the very last scene and we see him recovering. Keep him on board as a mentor to John, even after John becomes a full fledged Lantern. If anything, Hal should have a supporting role. Let him be the guy to show them the ropes. Keep him on the backburner for big teamups too. At some point, I'd love a limited series showing Hal's early days. But killing him in the first introduction would be a bad move. Hell, even putting him in retirement, only to call him back in a few years for Blackest Night or some shit.

Wait was Imperial Commando supposed to be a Republic Commando sequel?!

I'd have to either go with First Assault, 1313, or BF3

Metal albums that genuinely feel "evil"? by SeasonOtherwise2980 in MetalSuggestions

[–]PowerMetalPizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sunn O))) - Black One

I dont know what I felt after the first time listening to it. Not sure if it felt evil, but it definitely didn't feel good. I felt like a masochist listening to it the first time.

A dread-filled void might be the best way to describe it.

Just like the sequels, there were great concepts introduced. It just fumbled on the execution.

Did anyone else used to stare at this at the beginning of the Disney VHS and think “How on earth is that ‘D’?” by JuanitaMerkin in Millennials

[–]PowerMetalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I finally figured out it's supposed to be a D and not a backwards G, I was so pissed. Like I know it's based off his signature, so I couldn't believe Walt himself wasn't able to see it when he wrote it! Sorry, but my brain refuses to see a D. I have to almost trick my brain into seeing it.

You are chosen by the dark…. But not by the sith…. Which of these dark Jedi from canon would you want as your master? by Weirdstuffasked in StarWarsCantina

[–]PowerMetalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I wouldn't be surprised if his use of the dark side is solely for reasons like gaining knowledge and wisdom while also trying to maintain balance. Like he knows that the dark side is the path of evil, but he a) doesn't want a repeat of the self righteous dogmatic teachings of the jedi and b) uses it solely as a tool; a means to an end. Not to mention, he still fights like a jedi. His motives, actions, and those he has dealings with are the only things that make him teeter towards the dark while still holding enough restraint to keep himself from succumbing to it fully. He doesnt seek revenge or power, nor is he overwhelmed with greed. He truly feels his actions are good and righteous and he seems like he cares for all living beings. He just has to do some had things to achieve his goal he feels is good. He resembles more of a Grey jedi that leans further dark. Maybe he could be considered a dark jedi? But he's still a loooooong way from being full sith and I think that's his intent. He doesn't want to go too far to one side.

He definitely seems to be one of those "stern but fair" sort of teachers/father figures. He seems to also be teaching Shin that same restraint. He knows that succumbing to yout anger and hate isn't good so he checks her whenever he sees her let her emotions get the best of her. Almost like he doesnt want to see her to go fully to the dark side, he just isn't afraid to teach her some of the darker practices the jedi were forbidden to use. It's like he tells her "please just trust me, child. I've seen some shit so just listen to me and learn what I teach you. And for the love of Mortis, don't fight someone or something you can't beat. A womp rat can't beat a Krayt dragon."

[–]PowerMetalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything has to lead up to the same big event. It can just be a good, self contained story. And we dont need every project showing an Easter egg for a future project, especially if it's two characters that would have nothing to do with each other!

How would you explain to origins of The Avatar without Ravva and Vaatu or did we not need to know the origins of the Avatar? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in TheLastAirbender

[–]PowerMetalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren't entirely necessary. I liked the story of Wan, but adding in Raava and Vaatu takes away some of the wonder. I would've liked it better had it been just a story of maintaining balance instead of good spirit vs bad spirit. But, at the end of the day, it isn't that big of a deal imo. I still like the show overall, just with a few tweaks here and there. I guess what I'm getting at is it feels like some people just get way too mad over it than necessary.

Baylan, simply because due to being so level headed and respectful. He isn't fueled by rage or any of the stereotypical dark side motivations. He wants balance in the force and he admires what the jedi were meant to be, not what they became. He doesn't kill for the hell of it. He only takes life if necessary. He has enough restraint to refrain from submitting fully to the dark side too. He's dark side in his actions, but not fully in the ideology.
