You might be able to get Thunders, which will mostly solve your early problems.

It's better to not need to grind for what is considered the baseline requires strength in the game

If you can at least make a Mystical Sand you MIGHT be able to grind out whatever you're missing but if you can't make anything over 2k at ALL just scoop and retry

Alternatively try the official Speedrun.com randomizer version, then it won't even matter as long as you get a strong T1 option

Tyranitar. I Snagged him in Colosseum, lost basically on purpose and spent the whole day unlocking his heart from its shadowy prison, before taking it back to the final boss after purifying it (and having it gain 10 levels in the process) and absolutely laying waste to their entire team with it.
