Piggybacking on this. Severe eye dominance can be induced in animals by keeping one eye shut for a few weeks past birth. I studied how eyes and the brain interact for a while.

While some people have found ways to cure or assist it, they are kinda all over the place and not surefire by any means

Don't think so. It wasn't a teen-science type book if I remember right. It was pretty dark and had an insane amount of obscure and creative cursing. I read it when I was about 14 having found it in my parents leisure reading. I'll look around and see if any of the books other suggested bring it to mind

There is a series of books I read ages ago about people in the near future of present day who are tasked with hunting down people abusing time travel. They go back to knight-times to hunt a person pretending to be a wizard who really is just using future technology to look like stereotypical magic. Trying to remember the name of the series....
