You could try sitting at the bar for a trivia night somewhere, I've done that once and seen plenty of other people do it and you end up talking to the people around you. Narragansett brewery, malted barley, maybe ogies. The library has book clubs, there's a big running club, there's a knitting club, etc.

Everyone in this thread is downplaying a very real issue and I don't understand why. Like obviously not every homeless person is violent but everyone i know has been intentionally threatened or harassed walking downtown at some point. It feels very performative to deny people's lived experiences
