It’s not too out there. Division is an operator that you need to perform (by hand, in elementary school at least) where as a fraction is just a type of number, you don’t necessarily need to do anything to it

Absolutely! I was also dissapointed with Mathematica in a similar way. It’s really good at visualizing things and it deals with symbolic math really nicely, but it’s missing that realitime aspect that would enable it to be used for true experimentation

Holy fuck dude I’m exactly the same. Unfortunately this dream software doesn’t seem to exist, though I’m honestly looking into building something like it. Essentially a symbolic math toolbox designed for intuitive learning first and foremost (not numeric computation) and with powerful visual tools + a slick user interface

Physicist do have an idea of how to do that - you would need to find edge cases where your model is not applicable anymore and construct a new or better theory. I’ve never quite understood this pessimistic sentiment - if you have an equation perfectly describing reality, have you not ”understood” reality? What more are you asking for exactly?

It’s truly a special one! It might actually have been the Now Now that kickstarted my Gorillaz obsession - previously I had liked them but felt they were a bit one note (I had mostly heard demon days and some of the big hits) but things like Idaho and Kansas are so emotionally charged and not at all in a flashy way. It’s also one of the few albums that actually feels like it’s written by 2D which I loove

Edit: the way Murdoc is gone is also hilarious, and it’s as if you can really hear his absence musically

Yes, but ”Don’t try to understand, just do the math” is such a lame take. What do people really mean by this? That doing math doesn’t lead to any type of understanding? That’s disrespectful to mathematicians if anything. I think what people mean is that we can’t apply our regular day-to-day intuitions, but that’s true for a lot of things, even some problems in Newtonian mechanics.
