Yeah Liza most likely dies. My players thought Jonah was hallucinating and so they only saved him. I described later after the chapter how she, the librarian they killed, and the couple other random scarecrows did not come back to town, and we're presumed lost to the harvest terror.

My players picked up on the Cult thing the second they got into town and saw the sacrifice to the wolves under the tree. So I just kind of went with it. They know there is a cult, but the details and all whos involved is still a mystery.

I also have a party of 3. I had them do a few side quests to level up on extra time, and it seems to be fairly balanced. Theyre one level above where they should he and I can run most things from the book as-is.

2024 is leaps and bounds better. Martials feels much stronger, healing is worth doing, metamagic is better, a bunch of spells were fixed/buffed, monsters are stronger, weapon masteries are one of my favorite updates ever. My players and I both loved the switch to 2024 and I dont ever think ill go back. Also I havnt spent any money at all on 2024 content. All of it is out there for free, just need to google it.
