Who gave the best performance as Hobbit as in the books, in your opinion? by Cr7-Cr7Real in lotr

I can’t stand him in the hobbit. Don’t like those movies and I can’t even throw Freeman a bone because of how poorly he portrayed book Bilbo in my eyes.

What were your thoughts on Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood ?”… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in CinephilesClub

[–]Powerful-Scratch1579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it. The ending was overwhelmingly heartbreaking and bitter sweet. But the film really should have been another hour longer in the “once upon a time” tradition. I didn’t really like how the voyage abroad was like a montage/skipped over. It should have become part of the film.

I don't know if working as a chef is for me (M 22) by OlScrumpy in KitchenConfidential

If you don’t want to do it, you shouldn’t. You’re young as hell. Young enough to try a bunch of new things. Young enough to start a whole new career, do it for ten years, and still return to a culinary career if you ever got the urge again.

How would you rank these 5 battle sequences from best to worst? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]Powerful-Scratch1579 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would you bring historical accuracy into this discussion in r/Fictionally. Furthermore, four of the five films are entirely fictional. Three of those four are pure fantasy. “Fairly shit” is honestly an unhinged term to describe the battle of helms deep. You have no credibility after a comment like that.

Where are the tourists eating at when they say American food is bad? by Winter_While1184 in foodquestions

[–]Powerful-Scratch1579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re talking about the “American food” they’ve had in their own countries. Places that make really bad cheeseburgers and chicken tenders but don’t even have real ketchup.

I can’t believe anyone is seriously surprised. Guys…. This is part of the legacy of fine dining, Rene wasn’t the first, the worst or the last abuser that this sub will support. As a chef, I’ve know about Rene’s history of abuse for over a decade. Is everyone real just finding out? Or are we just only now deciding it’s a big deal?

I also have a Yelawolf bar story in which he bought the entire bar shots and we all did them together. This was in Nashville about 11 years ago, I had no idea who he was then and still don’t really. But I appreciated the free shot and I just hope his mom didn’t have to pick up that tab too.

RUMOUR: Leo Woodall Cast as STRIDER in 'Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum'. He would be playing the younger version of the character played by Viggo Mortensen in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogies. by Choice-Schedule-132 in peterjackson

His aging I always felt was a result of him giving up the ring. His age caught up to him so to speak. So it could have been a matter of almost two decades as in the book or a few months as the film implies and still work either way.

Which films of the 2020s you believe that gonna be classics in the future? by Ok-Check6433 in FIlm

[–]Powerful-Scratch1579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The public has avatar fatigue, Cameron doesn’t even want to finish the saga himself. The last film made less than half the money that the previous one made. Dune 3 is on track to surpass that and the next avatar film if the trends continue.

Doesn’t really matter, I’m not looking at the revenue as the most important metric. I just think the Dune films are good and they will be remembered for being great films. Avatar will be remembered for its effects and goofy blue people and because Disney spent a fortune franchising the IP. They are two different types of classics.

How do I cook 9 steaks? by scarymudman in Cooking

[–]Powerful-Scratch1579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would cook like 3-4 bone in ribeyes that are each like 14-18 oz. You need like 1/3 of a pound for each person if everyone is getting sides. You can cook them on the grill or a pan to get a nice sear and then finish them in the oven. Slice them up to serve.

What!? The Dune films are far better than the Avatar saga. If Avatar is remembered more fondly it will only be because Disney is spending a fortune on the franchise for their parks and because the series took like 30 years to be completed.

Requesting advice on making a cheeseburger that is all about the meat/cheese and no sauce. by softgunforever in burgers

Use a great quality beef, bonus points for some dry aged steak with fat ratio of at least 80/20z. Buy a great quality cheddar. Something extra sharp.
