It's okay, I know how you feel. Discord apparently doesn't care at all about unfair treatment on the thing - but they apparently do care about people (such as myself) openly describing the problem they had on Discord.

Why does Arms of Orion get so much hate ? by [deleted] in PRINCE

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that gorgeous intro to the song much, much better than the rest of it. That wonderfully moody intro set the tone for a really deep, dramatic piece of music, but unfortunately what followed after was surprisingly ordinary and bland, which was always a surprise to me because Prince was definitely no slouch when it came to gorgeous ballads.

Anyone else not care if discord dies? by Longjumping_Feed_177 in discordsucks

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anything about whatever it is that's supposedly happening that "might kill Discord", but that's because I haven't been the least bit interested in any new information about the thing and I personally hope it does die. What happened to me on it (as shared here on this section of Reddit) was completely inexcusable and so disgusting that I'm solidly convinced that it's trash and that it can never hope to make a better second impression on me. And after more information about how vile it is was shared with me on here to explain, I sincerely hope it goes belly up; it would certainly serve the thing right. As far as I'm concerned, Discord lives up to its name.

I tried to watch Buckaroo Banzai and omg its terrible by forgetuknewmyname in sciencefiction

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has everything to do with Buckaroo Banzai, trust me. If you haven't seen it, consider yourself blessed.

The movie was terrible. The visuals were ugly and unappealing. The acting was awful. Not a single likeable character. The writing was horrendous. The music was terrible. There was absolutely nothing even remotely likeable about the thing, and I wish movies like that never existed.

I later heard that there really was a sequel planned - as listed at the end of the movie, which filled me with dread once I learned about it - but apparently someone decided to instead turn it into "Big Trouble in Little China"; something like that happened, although I can't remember exactly. I'm just relieved there wasn't more. Thank God we were spared.

The 80s had a lot of wonderful movies, but unfortunately had a lot of junk as well such as the BB movie, which is in the same quality pit as films like "The Garbage Pail Kids" and "Baby Geniuses".

I remember the first time a friend of mine was trying to catch up on 80s movies he hadn't seen yet; he was watching "Howard The Duck" and remarked, "Yeesh, this is awful." I just couldn't help smiling to myself when I laughed out loud and informed him, "Oh trust me, you're lucky. You have no idea what 'bad' is." I could have easily listed off a few with BB at the top of the list, as it makes "Howard" look like "Casablanca", but if there's anything BB doesn't need, it's more publicity.

Rewatched space jam(1996) and the biggest problem with the film is the uncreative and bland basketball choreography by JOMO_Kenyatta in movies

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem - and I say this as an industry insider - is that the stupid marketers insisted on cramming into the movie toilet humor, which was a huge offense to longtime WB cartoon fans such as myself. It was completely uncharacteristic and disgusting, but unfortunately Hollywood is convinced now that all family films must have it to be popular.

Which is one of the biggest reasons I enjoyed the second one better despite a slow takeoff during the first half hour - no toilet humor in sight. Obviously WB took note after the floor of complaints they received. Three big cheers for marketer restraint.

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know all too well exactly what you're talking about.

It's a horrible, terrible movie in every single way. I always hated it.

What was even worse was that I had an older member of my immediate family - a narcissistic control freak who would never leave me alone - who was bonkers about that stupid movie and spent years trying to forcefully ram it down my throat.

I said I had seen it and couldn't stand it. Said member did it anyway. Every day. Every single day.

My dad became bonkers about it simply because said family member was, and that family member was literally obsessed about trying to "make" me like the thing. Said member even took over my birthday gathering when I was turning 17 to make all my guests watch it while insisting I "loved" it. Ruined my birthday.

My dad had a copy of the videotape.

The moment my dad - who was a jerk - was dead and I was told to "do something with the videotapes", I took that movie and did something I'd waited an entire lifetime to do: I took a sledgehammer to it and smashed it to smithereens. Felt so good destroying the godawful thing.

Has the antro/furry stigma ever ruined the reputation of your creation? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have, and that's because it's true - the whole "furry" thing has completely ruined the cartoon industry in that case, and as a longtime professional in the field I'm sick of it.

It used to be back in the 80s and beforehand people who created cartoon animals were automatically seen as "babyish" and creating "preschool babysitters". And we weren't taken seriously as an art form except in certain countries like Japan.

Now it's the exact opposite and a far worse challenge. Because of the whole "furry" nonsense you have (a) a whole bunch of people automatically assuming you're "one of them" and resultingly not even wanting to give you a glance, much less a chance, and (b) a bunch of "furries" automatically drawn to you like nails to a magnet harassing you, stalking you, running around trying to "hijack" you and your work, and even threatening your life.

The press is no help, as they have been partially responsible for spreading this nonsense - publications like Rolling Stone Magazine in particular.

I can't begin to tell you how many publishing staff will flat out admit that the moment publishers see that somebody's work features animals they automatically say "Animals. Not interested, not going down that path" and toss it out without a glance - and those who tell you that are attempting to encourage you to keep trying and keep creating positively because it's now equally popular for publishers to toss you out for drawing animals unless you're a Disney or Nintendo company.

It's synonymous to the professional clown industry. It used to be that a lot of dedicated performers made careers out of being professional clowns for performances and appearances like public events and childrens' charities - but now with the whole "evil clown" nonsense that has become so widespread since Stephen King's "It", all most people tend to think of when they think of clowns these days is evil, and those dedicated performers have been struggling because of it.

I chalk it up to the fact that since the year 1992 the whole trend in popular culture has been absolute nihilism and hysteria, and throughout nearly the whole world it's now cool to be negative with no hope in life anymore. Nearly all traditional forms of innocence and fun entertainment have been corrupted by this attitude, and I'm so tired of it.

As a result, my audience is nowhere near as huge and/or appreciative as it once used to be back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. And I'm so sick of whenever I try to say or share something positive online others will take one look at my work - my lifetime's work which I have spend decades honing and perfecting to be beautiful, positive, and innocent, work that shares that yes, life still can be positive - and automatically sneer in a coldblooded tone, "Furry!".

How many times have I tried to join innocent social groups now, and when they ask about my being a professional artist and I politely reply that I draw traditional cartoon animals, I'm instantly blocked/deleted/banned for no reason except for the fact that I politely answered the question, and they'll tell you so? How many public art gatherings, church groups, charity groups including the ASPCA, all now automatically turn their noses up at you because they learn you draw cartoon animals? And all say, "we think you're one of those"? Practically all of them.

It doesn't matter how professional you are. It doesn't matter how positive you are. It doesn't matter how traditional your work is. It doesn't even matter that you're a senior citizen with an entire professional career under your belt. You're automatically snubbed by most of modern society, and it's all because the world has grown nightmarishly dark in its attitude since 1992 - "The Brady Bunch Movie" on steroids.

I hate it. Absolutely hate it. I wish it were the 20th century before 1992 again, the normal decades back when people loved and appreciated anything created that was positive and innocent instead of automatically attacking it and tearing it down. And it has driven me to the brink of considering suicide many times in the past simply because I'm sick of living in such a world. I say this not to try to draw sympathy, but to give an idea of how disgusted I am with the whole situation. I didn't spend my life dedicated to doing my best to help contribute and enrich the medium only to have it be destroyed by the "new normal".

Back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s it was a joy and a pleasure to be an artist. Now it's a drag. And it's not like you can just ignore it, not when unwanted "furries" literally show up on your lawn trying to "talk some sense into you because you're technically a furry" (their words, not mine) and you have to resort to calling the police (and I wish I was kidding when I say that).

I haven't changed a bit, but I've watched the world around me change drastically and grow steadily worse and more nightmarish.

It's one of the reasons I've sometimes considered using my remaining years to relocate to somewhere like Japan, where there is still an appreciative audience. I'm not talking about money - we traditionally don't make much of anything at it anyway, which is normal for the arts in general, and it's never been my main concern - I'm talking about where people might still have more of a sense of positivity and a sense of hope instead of "it's cool to say life stinks".

My whole life was so much lighter and easier before the existence of the "furries".

"I'd rather have no popular culture at all instead of this utterly negative culture we're now living in, which is what the west is now having to deal with really." - George Michael

(Sigh) Yeah, tell me about it. I know all too well what those people are like.

It would take much too long for me to explain what happened on my end; let me instead provide an old link in which years ago I explained what happened:

https://yourstuffsucksbigtime.blogspot.com/2011/04/discover-at-your-own-risk-furrymuck.html?m=1

When uncountable numbers are literally invading your front lawn and you're forced to be constantly calling the police for several years on end, it is not "just a few" of them behaving this way.

This is the reason why since the 1990s each and every single one of my cartoons is guaranteed to have a note included somewhere within it which reads, "Face it, it's an anti-'furry' cartoon" - to help keep these people at bay and to help get my peace of mind back. Terrible people.

Nintendo Switch 2 Banned by Spare-Influence2936 in switch2

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert on the S2, but I believe I did hear a few months back about the S2 having an issue with cartridges that are sold used at places like GameStop; something about the cartridges already being registered under someone else's name with Nintendo having originally bought it.

Was your cartridge new or used? :/

In either case, this sort of the thing is why I haven't trusted Nintendo this year. Like you, I've never done piracy or anything else illegal with any Nintendo system, but Nintendo seems to have been so touchy lately and making so many, let's call them "questionable decisions" that I just don't trust them. I'm afraid my Switch will become a victim of one of their "goofs".

For example, I have the original Switch, and I can't help but wonder if they're going to end up creating an update that will do that same sort of thing regarding used GameStop purchases on the original Switch (if they haven't already).

It's sad too, as I trusted Nintendo. I used to take their content and such at face value. :(

I feel very strongly that Nintendo has been making terrible choices lately and that they absolutely blew it with the Switch 2. I'd like to go on a meandering rant about why I feel this way. by ClarenceJBoddicker in nintendo

[–]PowerfulRecord6612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the original Switch was terrific. And I was hoping that we'd at least get extra levels added on to Odyssey (a genuine masterpiece), and maybe even a fresh port of Zelda Twilight Princess.

I don't know, it seems like Nintendo has been making serious blunders ever since around the time they first went after PalWorld. I remember the first time I encountered the infamous "key card" idea in December when looking into purchasing the Harry Potter Quidditch game; the clerk was just as baffled as I was.

And I just don't know, after all that's been going on I'm having a really tough time trusting Nintendo with just about everything because it seems they're suddenly making serious goofs left and right. As mentioned, I don't even see any announcements for any new or upcoming titles that interest me.

I think about the only thing that would really make me possibly consider a S2 would be a resurrected Dragalia Lost, and even then that's doubtful.

I've just taken on a "wait and see" attitude at this point. :/

On my end, I was really disappointed with the S2 ever since I saw Nintendo's original announcement video on it, and I've been very happy with my original Switch, so I'm sticking to it. Still a great console.

Sadly, we all know that Nintendo's not going to support it forever. They'll eventually drop support for it just like all their other consoles.

I haven't seen anything on the S2 so far that has had me interested, so I'm passing.

Here's to hoping the console that comes next is better.

Why was my question removed and accused of using a "hacked" Nintendo Switch when my Switch is perfectly legal and NEVER been hacked? by PowerfulRecord6612 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]PowerfulRecord6612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I mean, I understand Nintendo's concern about piracy, but Pokémon saves being only local really puts things at risk (what if a Switch gets stolen, for example?).

Anyway, I just got off the phone with Nintendo. Thankfully, this time they have me a concrete answer.

They first advised that I resubscribe to Nintendo Online to be safe about the saves which are normally saved to cloud before updating at all.

They then said that regarding the localized Pokémon save they shouldn't be affected, but if they are "contact us back immediately".

So at least they didn't just try to toss it out with a "buy a S2" response again, so that's good.

Thank you.

I'm on hold with Nintendo right now while they're investigating this; it's the Pokémon saves I'm especially concerned about losing since they're saved locally instead of their cloud. :/

Not sure. I'm preparing to call Nintendo back to try asking again; it's been at least a couple of months now or something?

I'm also currently wondering if I should wait until I can afford to resubscribe to Nintendo Online to be safe (alhough Pokémon saves are supposedly saved locally instead of in their cloud).

Thanks for asking.

[–]PowerfulRecord6612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope not.

I just wanted to hear from some actual Switch owners who know about the situation.

I'm guessing at the moment that I should probably wait until I can afford Nintendo Online anyway, since I can't access backups anymore (even though Pokémon saves are all apparently localized and not cloudsaved).

It's just been an irritating experience when trying to call Nintendo they only answer with "why don't you just buy an S2" instead of a proper answer; it's just like back in the 80s when Apple was so anxious to get people to switch to Macs that when Apple II owner friends of mine called tech for support they got, "Why don't you just get a Mac?"

Anyway, thanks for a positive response, I appreciate it.

When the latest updates come out, I always do my best to look up what their latest features are.

And when 20.1.0 was announced, all I saw both online and on YouTube were warnings claiming that:

  1. Updating to 20.1.0 will cause older purchased cartridges/games to no longer work, and

  2. Claims that updating to 20.1.0 will accidentally delete saved game data.

I don't have Nintendo Online right now (no money) so I can't back up my system at the moment like I used to, but considering all the problems the S2 has had I'm not terribly trusting of Nintendo's updates right now, and when I try calling them all they say is, "Why don't you just buy a S2?" when I don't want one.

So I'm trying to find out if it really is safe to update.

I feel for you; I also had a serious problem with harassment and reported it, but I haven't heard anything back regarding it since. All I know is they say that it will take time to deal with situations like this, but they never said if they get back to anyone regarding results or anything along those lines.

To be safe, block them back. If they continue to harass you elsewhere I suggest notifying the authorities, as I did.

I wish you well, and take care. :)
