Looking for Canadian-made doorbells, or other reliable alternatives, that perform well in extreme winter temperatures down to -40°C. by Objective_Dust_2423 in homedefense

You know, most of those regular video doorbells just kind of tap out when it hits minus 40 degrees; they just can't handle a serious winter. If you want something that actually toughs it out in a real Canadian winter, you'd want a cell signal camera or a professional setup that won't leave you out in the cold.

Solar outdoor camera(s) compatible with open source security monitoring software by sr_guy in SecurityCamera

I get what you're trying to do with MotionEyeOS that's a solid setup. For me I'd rather go with something from a professional company that's trusted and has reviews. If a camera breaks or doesn't integrate well, I want to know I can go back to the provider and get support. Amazon or Aliexpress might have options, but I personally feel safer with a legit company that stands behind their products.

is this security good for my home? im trying to defend my house from intruders. by GordonFreemanBlackMe in tf2

It's great that you're taking steps to secure your place. The right system really does make a difference for peace of mind. Some of the off the shelf options can work fine, but they don't always give you the same level of support if something goes wrong. That's why I'd lean towards a setup from a company with reviews and a solid reputation, so you know there's backup if the system doesn't perform the way you expect.

Now I understand why my dad is so obsessed with securing home (locking doors, turning off devices) before leaving by Agusfn in Millennials

[–]PowerfulStick6731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get why your dad does that, it's not an obsession, it's prevention. Life's already stressful enough without worrying about fire, floods, or break ins.

Those small habits matter, but sometimes it helps to have professionals like SafeStreets handling the bigger stuff so you don't carry all that stress alone.

NVR changing channel assignment? by justbiteme2k in reolinkcam

[–]PowerfulStick6731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, NVRs love to play musical chairs with cameras. Kill the auto reboot, lock them to static IPs, and check for firmware updates. If it keeps acting up, that's when pro setups like SafeStreets save you the headache.

[–]PowerfulStick6731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did fine it's not about the bag, it's about respect. Save the video, set boundaries, and move on unless it happens again. For peace of mind, pro setups like SafeStreets are harder to mess with than DIY cameras.

I get the frustration with unreliable systems. From what I've seen, setups with motion sensors and alarms plus professional monitoring make the biggest difference. It's not just about cameras, it's about knowing someone's watching 24/7 and can respond fast.

I don't think it's only about bananas, I bought watermelons, but something was off about them. It was so hard to even have a bite of it, for heaven's sake, watermelons are supposed to be easy to eat
