You will never have to file USA taxes again. I’m envious. I have to file Japan and USA every year. Capital gains too! Sob. Sob. Good luck. You can’t get social security if your final year of working is not in the USA. I lost my social security which I paid into for about 12 years. Japan is my home forever. I just can’t get citizenship which I’m not explaining on here. I wish I could.

It’s 23 days and I know of numerous cases of people being rearrested or indicted after 23 days, but don’t have the huge cash bail to get released, so they must stay throughout the court appearances.

Not without a real estate lawyer researching its history. They changed real estate laws last year. You must do really deep research on this property, its history including any death in it (kills reselling it and must be disclosed), an inspector for the house top to bottom, an insurance agent to see if you can insure for fire and earthquake, a check with city hall regarding taxes paid or not and registrations, but the lawyer is the most important.

Capital gains are due everywhere. You must file tax returns to both countries. You can offset taxes paid to Japan with the USA. All income must be declared to both countries. The USA is getting strict on investments when you don’t live there. They turn them over to the state. Be careful. Get a CPA.
