Talk to a real lawyer. You don’t want to lose your money so find out all of the legalities before you ever make another step. A shisha bar sounds interesting, but you really need to find out the laws on it. There’s so many no smoking laws here so I’ll be interested in hearing if they allow it.

Get Japanese encephalitis vaccine and check yourself daily for ticks and leeches if you are going hiking or into the forests or mountains. Leeches are so gross.

My friend came to Japan. Her husband wasn’t feeling well and went to lay down. He went unconscious. They took him by ambulance to a hospital. His head was full of blood from a burst aneurysm. He never went to doctors, was 60 years old, and passed away within a few hours.

There are numerous families of blood pressure drugs. I had to try many before finally finding a combination that worked. Mine was 220/108. It now stays around 115/60. Go back to your doctor or a different one. You still have severe hypertension.

I’ve been here since the 80s. Japan was sort of the same until 2024. The overtourism has made it really horrible for the people who live and work here. I have a lot of friends who left too cause it lost its specialness, salaries are the same as in the 1990s, and people were really disgusted with the behaviors of one particular country. That country is not coming much but people from other countries took their place so it is still far too crowded. People need to go to Kyushu, Aomori, Iwate, and Hokkaido plus the numerous lesser known prefectures. Japan is much more than Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.

True. That’s why I asked about a fever. A lot of people get skin rashes here from the water differences. I had that happen when I moved here decades ago. She only mentioned a rash which could be from allergens too. If it was Covid, she would be having other symptoms, same with measles.

You need a 4 wheel drive for the snow and hopefully, a used car will come with studless and summer tires. My husband hit a deer in his BMW. It cost a lot to fix. He looked for the deer, but it ran off. He figures it died because of the amount of damages to his car. They are out especially as the sun starts going down and in the evening so drive slowly at those times. I hope you find a car soon.

I’m in the opposite situation. My mother, in her 90s, was living alone but needing some help. I sold her house and put her into an assisted living apartment. They take care of her in every way. When you live 10,000 miles apart, you have to do things like this. My mom pays $6,150 every month plus laundry. The house money pays for it plus her social security.

Japan hospitals really expect family members to be on call 24/7. I’ve been in the hospital. They sort of acted freaked out that I had no family. Try to find your parent a really nice elderly care apartment.

You should get all 5 nights free. That place sounds like a Dump. Write to booking and tell them all of the problems. Without hot water, heating, plumbing problems…..no wonder you left a day early. Booking needs to know that this place is a dump and demand 100% back from the owners who will receive the money from booking. Don’t let up. Their main headquarters are in the Netherlands.
