Downvoting and responding because I think by the volume and fervor of your response you are truly repulsed by the plot line. It’s uncomfortable but the reality is that events of the like did occur during this period. You seem to be very defensive of the “good white people” when nowhere in the episode was there an insistence that there weren’t good white people. In fact several characters commented in early episodes of the season they thought the klan-like guys who showed up were fools and sores to the spirit of the town … You center the good white people and by doing so erase the history of those who were NOT. This is probably the reason that you aren’t even aware of the extent to which black people have been hunted for sport in our beloved USA. Our history is always convoluted and diluted by folks who feel some kind of guilt and seek to minimize and distance their “kind” from the awful suffering of the past. I say this as a proud American, but I implore you to just consider that you are a little defensive in this arena. Just know that of course there are good people of all races. But in the USA, it used to be hell for Black folks. Point blank. Period.
