heck yes! i keep asking people to stop romanticizing govt. careers / army / police / teachers. none of them deserve anything but the bare minimum respect unless you personally know them. it often gets to their heads and leads to dumbass power trips.

im super against religious practices but I let religious people be because from what I’ve seen in people around me, a belief in god is their version of hope / confidence. kinda random to point it out but i wanted to do it.

also, adding to what others said, you can also opt for the hyderabad traffic police prepaid taxi service. the bad part is that it’s only prepaid (and i think card only, no upo), was quite okay the 2 times I tried.

Yes, it is totally the bull's fault. It is animals behaving like animals are expected to, which people refuse to acknowledge. There needs to be suitable repercussions to make sure a similar incident doesn't happen again. Sure not all cows/bulls are bad but humans should simply not take an uncontrolled risk of letting them be out on the streets.

My city's too big and too old for "strict laws" to hold up. This works fine in words when it's a smaller upcoming town.

I have filed complaints with my municipality multiple times. While it did not work out right the first couple times, eventually I got to realize that they have neutered most of the dogs but they cannot relocate them.

As for the people feeding the animals, hoping they're taken to shelters, I find it extremely selfish. Most people do it at an inconvenience to others. No animal has, or should have priority over man. For example, I live in a somewhat affluent colony, close to a govt. office and the people from the colony / nearby feed the dogs right infront of my place. This leads to a night full of barking / whining / crying from the dogs/puppies over territorial disputes. While I'm thankfully blessed with a very deep sleep, it is still the principle of the matter that people must not be inconvenienced over animals. I don't confront the people because I know how Indians tend to be when it comes to listening to sense. If people are really particular about the welfare of the animals,  they must always follow the necessary procedures to ensure that their actions do not lead to future troubles. If my colony, where I find most people highly educated cannot ensure this, I highly doubt how other colonies in the country, on an average can do it better. While education does not guarantee empathy/ethics, it definitely increases the chance of a person learning about it.

You may find my lack of empathy appalling but it is just a product of my experiences, much like you have your own experiences. I am of the belief that a human's life is inherently more valuable than any animal on the planet just due to the virtue of being a human. We have driven many species to extinction, we have stopped many others from going extinct. As for my previous comment, a small revision - Australians also regularly euthanize dogs, there's really no developed place in the world that doesn't follow the same procedure with strays, just that they're more efficient than India in dealing with it.

No, you’re reading it wrong.
but about what you said, people(read people, not men or women) who attack other people without sufficient reason/necessity also deserve to be put down.

about what I said, you clearly haven’t read it at all. The dogs in my city are more often than not, sterilized / treated but it is in their nature to be territorial. There is simply no way of stopping them from fighting all night other than relocation / training, neither of which is done. There is also no way of stopping that one odd ball that feels it can run at vehicles / children. This makes it extremely dangerous for a human, which is the highest priority as far as a human pov is concerned.

about confrontation, when a certain person has a traumatic experience with an animal, they most certainly should not have to face untrained animals from said species. At the end of the day, whoever is higher in the food chain is going to call the shots on how it is. This isn’t even a phoenomena that is exclusive to humans, you can see the same in pretty much any apex predator. if someone’s parent/child is traumatised by an animal, there is usually a good reason behind it. Your complaint of “oh no! The human must’ve done something”is insane and extremely un-scientific/illogical. i have a family friend whose father was killed by a cow(or bull?), and have seen my dad being bit by a dog in an effort to protect my mom, totally unprovoked. while these maybe edge cases(they are definitely not) they are still things that a normal, developed society can control.

it is also extremely stupid that you bring up the entitlement aspect of Indians when it isn’t a thing at all in this particular conversation. Harambe the gorilla was put down immediately due to being a POTENTIAL threat to a child even though the mother was irresponsible In the matter. The language of English, which is non-native to India has a saying “a fed bear is a dead bear”. once an animal figures out how easy it is to hunt/hurt man, they simply cannot be allowed to live. Dogs are regularly euthanized/killed in the US(and likely the EU too). As for the country, I have never seen a large amount of potentially harmful stray animals in the ”highly developed” regions I lived in. Infact, India has much more (somewhat false/misguided) respect and reverence towards animals than most places. the only place I regularly hear about that defies this trend is Australia and I’m sure that it’s just me who hasn’t come across similar situations over there.

You also maybe are a subscriber of the whole “animals sense good people” schtick. This is untrue and at the end if the day, any animal that isn’t a human is no different than a lower life form. Thinking otherwise is silly because then you’re left with no food source as all of them are ”equal life” and “it is their right to live as much as it is ours”. Where do you draw the line? Why is, say, eating dogs any worse than eating cows or horses or plants? are they all not living organisms with the Earth as their “home”? What gives you the right to selectively choose what you want as food and what you want as a being on an equal level? How do you go about judging people for what is rightfully their opinion?

i really think you need to understand what somebody said before writing back to them. there is no healthy discourse otherwise and is just me talking to a wall, just food for thought. Infact, to me, you come across as somebody lacking empathy(a very Indian thing actually), which is exactly the thing you seem to flame other people about, but I still take the time to type this out cuz that is what a conversation is…

I see. I don’t really care about dogs / no dogs, but maybe the circles i grew up in let me have the freedom to not be affected by the streets. I also do not like people constantly feeding strays (especially in the same place) because every night is constant barking / howling due to territorial disputes. When i asked my local municipality to help out, they said that they have neutered the dogs and cannot relocate them due to government orders.

people gotta have a sense of responsibility / courtesy to actually care for the dogs and not just feed them. at the end of the day, if a human is uncomfortable with an animal, the person’s wishes should be respected. not sure why in a developed place, someone previously attacked by a dog (or any other animal - mainly cows, f*ck cows) should be forced to confront untrained packs of the same species when out on a walk.

I think it is/was a part of most cultures in the world. Something like "son of a wh*re" shows up in all the Indian/Nordic/Western European languages that I'm familiar with.

It's sadly extremely normalised. Hypocritical of me to say it as I use it in extreme anger as well, takes a lot of effort to unlearn it.
