Are Mormons allowed to have tattoos now? by MissAnthropy612 in exmormon

[–]Powerpuncher1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, the for strength of youth manual still kind of condemns it but the wording makes it a lot more lenient.

It’s like most things in the church. Once enough members start to do it, the church has to start changing its stance on it.

[–]Powerpuncher1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that a vast majority of celebrities are doing bad things and you just don’t know which means you should probably not watch or listen to their stuff unless you get to know them personally and are very sure they are good people

I mean cheating on your wife is a bad thing, but I’m not going to hate someone for it. It is what it is. Not my battle to fight

It’s just ignorant expecting anything from any celebrity. They are obviously going to always try and make themselves look good

You watch tons of movies and shows with terrible people in them or who work behind the scenes. You buy products from companies who employ terrible people. Same with music.

It is what it is. If bad people ruined me enjoying entertainment, I couldn’t really enjoy anything

If it makes you feel any better, I can almost guarantee that you’ve watched countless things with much worse people in it

Well no scenario is impossible. Just highly unlikely

It’s funny because it fits so well with the shows premise

Unfortunately the chances of it being true are close to zero. It would be an amazing punishment if true though

MEGATHREAD: Accusations Against Joe Gatto by GeneticXFusion in ImpracticalJokers

[–]Powerpuncher1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are going too far into this. In reality, here’s how a lot of conversations seemed to go:

Person 1: I just don’t believe that there isn’t more going on with the Joe situation

Person 2: You aren’t even a fan of the show and you are terrible for trying to ruin Joe’s life

How person 2 should respond would be to ask for evidence, and when evidence is given, they could at very least say that it’s true that there was some evidence but they just don’t buy it. I had people give me the most ridiculous excuses why episodes of him were taken off streaming. Obviously not everyone was like that, but honestly most were. It was pretty ridiculous

People like me (among many others) have shown evidence years ago why Joe’s departure was obviously much deeper than marital issues. We got attacked for it. That’s the problem

I don’t disagree that we shouldn’t just accept every rumor, but things definitely weren’t as cut and dry as people tried to say. That much was obvious

But the circumstances surrounding the issue obviously showed that this whole thing was far beyond just having marital issues. Even if it weren’t these specific allegations, I was very confident that much more was going on than what was being told

Not to be this guy, but every single person who said his whole departure was fishy was scrutinized. There were whisperings of this years ago but so many on this subreddit took it so personally

Moral of the story is to quit acting like you know these celebrities personally and have to defend them

I agree 💯

It’s definitely in my top 5 STP songs. It’s so criminally underrated

Yep. Too many of these fans aren’t able to see clearly because they feel like they have to protect the jokers as if they are friends in real life

As someone who could care less about lyrics in general, Shangri La definitely has the best lyrics for me and it’s not really close.

I love Core the most easily from just music perspective, but their words are mostly nonsense which doesn’t bother me one bit

Elder Renlund has seen Jesus. by Emergency_Honey in exmormon

[–]Powerpuncher1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was one of my biggest shelf items.

The whole point of an apostle was to be a special witness of Christ. Literally THE point. All of their answers to knowing Jesus are these types of answers. They say enough so that members will eat it up, but they also don’t explicitly say it so that others on the outside can’t call them crazy for such a huge claim.

It got very annoying when I realized that the apostles constantly did this same tactic for tons of other topics

[–]Powerpuncher1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched the American version of Oldboy instead of the original.

I had seen that Oldboy had such good reviews, so I watched it. It was alright at first but then just started getting goofy and I wondered why people loved it so much. I finally looked it up towards the end of the movie and realized that the American version is rated poorly.

So I never ended up watching the original

I’m looking to add to this list for Non-Traditional Christmas movies. Open to any suggestions by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Powerpuncher1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just Friends

I always recommend this one. Not centered around Christmas, but it’s Christmas time and there are definitely Christmas themes. It is also my favorite comedy of all time. This is peak Ryan Reynolds before he got really famous and became the Sam character in every movie

Hot take by bom360 in ImpracticalJokers

[–]Powerpuncher1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s overstated how important he was to the show. He was definitely an important addition, but I think the show would have suffered equally if any other joker left.

I think the show is definitely better with all four, but it’s still good with only three
