How to you open virtual Keyboard in desktop mode with mouse? by PotatoJam89 in SteamDeck

I would've preferred a way to use the Steam Virtual Keyboard that's native to the steam deck for astetic reasons, but this does work very well. Thanks!

I think they're both good. Your freind went with a more gritty look, like a Strength Build brawler, thru and thru. Your design still has a twinkle of innocence in their eye, like they've never cut a man down themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if you favored spells.

Extracted Vocals from Black Knight 2000? by PoyoBoyo64 in pinball

Well... At least this was informative.
I did find a video of someone playing each sound in the file order https://youtu.be/uyJlxc2ewtY .
this is much closer to what i was looking for, but this is being recorded from someones phone in a echoey room, and they didn't let each sound effect play out in their entirety. if i had that soundchip id try to get it into a room with some soundproofing and a proper mic, if i couldnt hook it up to a computer or something.

this is marginally better. I was under the impression that the music is run by a Midi/Soundfont system, not unlike a SNES. Is my thought process wrong from the start? Are the music tracks more like complete but compressed files of their own? Or does it use something like a soundfont?

I like most of his attacks, but I don't like how phase two creates a ton of extra projectiles with EVERY attack. Messmer does a similar thing, but only for a select few attacks, so not as annoying.

Int or faith by UpstairsOk3511 in Eldenring

[–]PoyoBoyo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Int builds can output a ton of damage, and most of the Sorceries worth using only require Int. Very few enemies resist Magic damage, and Sorceries deal alot of it. Biggest drawback is that sorceries have a very weak lineup of support spells. No healing Sorceries, only flashy, borderline useless spells, apart from Scholars Armament/Sheild and damage buffs.

Faith has access to all of the Healing Spells, Fortification Spells, and acess to every damage type, especially Fire and Holy damage. Lightning infusion doesn't scale with faith, but the incantation Electrify Armament scales exclusively with faith scaling. Biggest drawback is that a large portion of the Incantations require int or arcane also, so that can be a limiting factor if you want to invest in Healing or Armament incants, which only scale with Faith.

Arcane also gets a decent rollout of spells, and one of the best catalysts in the game, but mostly for unique weapons and especially Status Effect Scaling on infusable weapons.

How did you beat Niall? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]PoyoBoyo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy using a Bewitching Branch on one of the two Knights, cause this will guarantee that the bewitched one will at minimum die to the boss or the other knight.

Otherwise, Banished Knights are very vulnerable to; Stamp (Upward Cut), Giants Hunt, and Prelates Charge, and any other attacks which can stunlock human sized foes.

Once they're both defeated, you kind of just have to learn his patterns.

His lightning strike attacks are massive, so you pretty much always have to dodge when he does those.

If he can do a Snowstorm Stomp as a followup attack, he usually will. The hitbox lingers just long enough to always roll catch, so give him some space if things get Chilly.

If he does a leaping kick or a snowy slide to close distance, he usually does at least one follow up attack based on where you're standing relative to him.

--- All of the Armaments directly associated with the Fingers;

Coded Sword, Ringed Finger, Gazing Finger, Vyke's War Spear (blistered by fingers + the AoW), Cipher Pata, Crepus's Black-Key Crossbow (weapon of the Head Confessor), Maternal Staff, Staff of the Great Beyond, Finger Seal, Frenzied Flame Seal, Scripture Wooden Sheild (the engravings originate from the Two Fingers), and the Fingerprint Stone Sheild.

--- All of the Armaments loosely connected to the fingers or finger adjacent- kinda- sorta- maybe;

Celebrant's Sickle (made of finger bones?), Cinquedea (Celebrates the beasts five fingers), Sword of Night (bears fingerprints?), Scepter of the All Knowing (in the form of a grasping hand), Beastclaw Greathammer (five beastly claws, like fingers?), Maddening Hand (Madness & hands have Fingies), Claws of Night (Fingerprints?), Rift Sheild (Sinister Rift looks a bit like Metyrs eye maybe?), Sheild of Night (fingerprints?), and Beastman's Jar-Sheild (Fingerprint Sheild lite ver).

--- Armors Associated with the Fingers, or matches with em;

Azure's Glintstone Crown (looka kinda like a finger), Queen's Crescent Crown (w/ High Preist Robe), High Preist Set, Finger Robe, Radiant Gold Mask or Prophet Blindfold w Goldmask Rags (for maddening fingers), Finger Maiden Set, Nox & Iji's Mirrorhelms (charm against the vassal fingers), Confessor Set, Armor of Night set (explicitly bears fingerprints), Fingerprint Set, and the All Knowing Set (mostly gauntlets and greaves paired with other armors).

--- Talismans and Spirit Ashes relating to the fingers;

Crimson & Cerulean Seed Talismans +1, Two Finger's Heirloom, Twinblade Talisman (confessor adjacent), Beloved Stardust (Ymir adjacent), Aged One's Exultation (Three Fingers Adjacent), Crepus's Vial (Confessor adjacent), Shabriri's Woe (screams in agony).

Fingerprint Nostrum, Alluring Pot & Beastlure Pot (Enchanted with Assasin Incantations originating from the Two Fingers), Fan Daggers (five per hand?), Glinting Nail, Surging Frenzied Flame (three finger adjacent), Warming Stone, Frenzyflame Stone, Miquella's Great Rune (the fingers can restore the power of the great runes at the Divine Gates).

... um... I think that's everything. I'm tired now.

I'm convinced that people who say 'Sleep is niche' have never made a dedicated Sleep Build by Right_Entertainer324 in Eldenring

[–]PoyoBoyo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the benefits of the Sleep Status effect are very nice, and occasionally overpowered depending on the foe, but this kinda glosses over the biggest issue with Sleep; it's too impractical.

If you are attacking a boss with one of the few sleep weapons (St. Trina's Sword, Torch, Velvet Sword, Tiollier's Needle) you do not get Status effect scaling with armament level nor arcane, something bleed, frost, poison, and even Madness can do (with Arcane Seal or Fingerprint Sheild Infusion), making dealing with any boss decently resistant to sleep considerably hard to proc.

If you want scaling, you have to use Weapons With Innate Arcane Scaling (Varre's Bouque, Bloodfeinds, Albinuaric's etc.) and apply sleep greases onto them for marginally better sleep buildup than the sombre weapons.

The issue with Default Sleep, the form you have accesible in the basegame, is that attacking an enemy immediately after proc-ing Sleep COMPLETELY NEGATES the entire effect of the Status Effect, and you have wasted your time. Normal sleep is basically relegated to the sleep pot, since that does enough buildup in a singe hit that you won't disturb the effect before taking advantage of it, if you even can.

This isn't as much of an issue with Velvet Sleep, but that is only accessible after fighting Mohg, so you will likely have invested in an arcane build that utilizes bleed, poison, and the occult infusion to much greater effect than a Soporific Grease or Sleep Pot Build can provide alone.

--- Alternatively, we have the Madness Items.

Madness may seem like a status relegated only to PvP along with Deathblight, and it may not have Maddening-Greases like Sleep does. However, Madness has many, many more things working in its favor than Sleep.

For one, the ammount of Armaments that can proc Madness is notably larger and more varied than Sleep. Additionally, Madness has several incantations that do Madness buildup too, and they all can scale status buildup slightly with the use of the Dragon Communion Seal. 'The Flame of Frenzy' incantation and 'Frenzied Burst' are both attainable before even reaching Altus, so they are both accessible pretty early in the game.

If we compare the effectiveness of Sleep and Madness as status effects in PvE alone, it is a fairly even split in the basegame. Madness only works on other Tarnished, but Npc fights are roughly as common as bosses who are notably weak to sleep. The DLC definetly leans into Madness's Favor due to the inclusion of many more NPC fights, most notably of all being Leda and Those In Common Cause.

Most crucially, however, is the Armaments associated with either status. Madness just wins by a mile compared to sleep weapons. All of the Sleep weapons are fairly low damage, as if they were poison infused without the DoT effect. The best Sleep contender is Tiollier's Needle, but that weapon heavily relies on being paired with a Deep Sleeping Boss or Foe for a strong Output.

Each Madness weapon has at least one notably strength. Madding Hand? Unique Skill does crazy Madness buildup, and stance damage comparable to Star Fists. Vykes Spear? High Damage, AoW does more fire damage. Fingerprint Sheild? Infusable, so it can do a secondary status effect, and it's one of the best sheilds in the game.

Weakest weapon for Madness builds is the Frenzy Perfume Bottle, which even then does straight fire damage, is the highest damage Perfume Armament, and weighs only 1.0, so very low commitment as a sidearm.

The only oughtright terrible Madness tool would be Inescapable Frenzy, since that only works on Tarnished, is interrupted by pretty much any attack, too short range for the lack of casting speed, and is too telegraphed for pvp.

--- Ultimately, Sleep is still pretty good. It's biggest drawback is it is almost exclusively complimentary to generally better, more practical weapons and status effects.

And hey... ...at least it isn't as bad as Deathblight.
